Okay, so I've got a RPG on another board and someone brought up the archer thing. I read that it dealed critical damage but someone argued with me on this. How do I determine 'effective against' damage?
Nevermind, I just found out...

As you didn't delete the post, allow me a little spamming.
The way you determine isn't the same in each FE.
In FE4, it results in a sure critical (unless target is immune) - so, double attack power.
In FE5, the attack power (str + might) is doubled. So, a critical would be 4x attack power (=death, except in very exceptional cases.)
In FE6, the weapon might is tripled.
In FE7, as you probably know, the wpn might is doubled.
No clue about FE1/2/3, though.

Cool no wonder pegasus seemed more stronger in FE7 than in FE6. Hmm I'll add this useful data to my RPG then...

yeah the glowing thing was brought up somewhere else too. It was in the FE6 board. I wonder why people don't seem to like to compare the mechanics of the FE games.

But the other half knows, so that's no excuse.
(Although I doubt that's really half. Meh.)

Double of the attack power.
So, if you have a char with attack 12 attacking one with defense 14, who criticals:
FE7 -> (12-14)x3 = -6 = 0 damage. Weep.
FE5 -> (12x2)-14 = 24-14 = 10 damage.

FE1:
Weapon Sharpness (3) + Strength - Enemy Defense = Damage.

Is that the NES FE1, or the SNES remake?
The remake follows FE3 'rules', which are different.

Well, I didn't know that FE7 was double the weapon might+ strength, unit recently. I never really payed enough attention. I'm always learning.

BTW, in the Japanese FE7, some weapons have 3x might when extra-effective. At least Aureola was that way (bug?).

NES. I don't know very much about FE3. A rare thing, indeed.
