[glow=green,2,300]First off, I created this thread just to see what people think...I don't want to get shot or w/e for my opinions. Now, I think that FFTA is not the best StratRPG out there ::hides::. People bash on Tactics Ogre b/c of stupid things but it's actually pretty good. The same can be said for Onimusha Tactics. They're both intoxicatingly good. Sure, FFTA is intoxicatinly good and there is replay value but it's not God like people portray it to be. I don't know why but games Like TO, OT, FFTA, and of course FE are fun but some people exaggerate way too much. I'll give people the fact that FFTA was the most anticipated StratRPG by AMERICAN players, but I felt FE was more anticipated since...it just was :-P :: hides permanently :: It feels good to get the truth across! Final Fantasy Tactics was the one people cared more about. Nintendo of american gave bucked loads of info while fire emblem was a page about 5 minutes before release date. I don't understand why people care for FFT, its tortoise pace is not what I need from a gba game. That goes for Tactics Ogre as well.
I played a strartagy rpg for stratagy NOT 2 hours of micromanagment before a battle. The managment wouldn't be so bad is there was an auto equip or something to display only equipment that you CAN use. The micromangement is shoddy design. Fire emblem had lots of weapons but it was easy to find where one was and that.
And I think the class system is too complex for its own good and some of those classes are plain cheap. That catch and re-throw attacks thing sounds cheap. As for monster catching. I play pokémon for that! In Pokémon the monsters beared fruit for your efforts!
And the less said about the "tactics" the better. Speed is da stat! How can you plan anything when its such a random pace for movement. Slow characters can't level so fast ones overlevel. Its a terrible flaw. It caused me to give up completely in the game. Thast might be baised as iv'e hated the speed system and all they stand for (Shining False first S-RPG my ass!).

personaly, im not a huge fan of srpg.. i dunno i can never finish them.. honestly i realy dun like ffta, but ive never played ot, or to.. but as far as i can tell Fire emblem is the best srpg i played.. ive never finished it, due to some reasons, but story/character wise and other things is the reason it takes #1 for srpgs.. haha

I think FFT is better than FFTA. Not only because of the stpry line, but there's more thigs you can do, and more jobs.

Reading this post, I can't help but wonder whether FE fans think the series is difficult because of their own impetuosity rather than the games' difficulty. Strategy games are called so because of the requirement of planning, of which there is little due to FE's limited move and attack system limited to 2 dimensions. Although it's a shadow of its predecessor, Tactics Ogre: the Knight of Lodis is probably the best strategy RPG on the GBA--a negative statement on the state of this genre on the system rather than a positive one on TO.

FFTA- system is complex but the game is way too easy(some ppl argue about this saying don't use the good skills and weapons but that's just no fun...) TO-not played since it's not released in Australia

[glow=green,2,300]I honestly believe that Final Fantasy Tactics and FFTA have little in common. FFT was much better and it captured me more. Sure, I never beat the game (I'm at the last level but don't ever want the game to end p_p) but FFTA isn't as fun...I actually felt like ending the game just to see what happens. Tactics Ogre is a great game and I hate hearing nOObs say "Tactics Ogre sucks." It doesn't...I think it's a great game. I wouldn't have wasted my cash on it if it was a piece of crap. Same goes for Onimusha Tactics. That game is really well made yet the people on Gamespot say that it's a bad game and rated it a 6.7. If everyone listened to what those sites said, then everyone would probably be playing Zelda all day long. Honestly, when was the last time anyone here played Phantasy Star 4? I think that Phantasy Star 4 tops ALL Final Fantasy games. It's my opinion. If you guys were to try it, you'd probably like it. The only problem with the game is that it gets super hard towards the end. It honestly took me like 2 weeks of non-stop leveling to beat a boss in that game...p_p Anyways, I think that sites that give reviews on games shouldn't be around because all I hear from people is "Well, I don't wanna get this game because GameSpot/IGN gave it such and such a score." There's no need for that. All that promotes is ignorance. I don't know how many people I know that say "I'll never play SNES/GB/GEN/Saturn/PS1 games because there's better out there. Ohh well. -__-'[/glow]

Good enough of a reason for me to never pick up the game.

FFTA has so many people with so many hours because it takes so long to get anything done in that game. Tactics Ogre was fun but suffered from a distinct lack of any flashiness whatsoever. I know too flashy is a bad thing, but when the four basic spells are essentially different colored balls of flying light, well, you're not trying hard enough. And there were too many exploitable little tricks...that the enemy knows about.

"Anyways, I think that sites that give reviews on games shouldn't be around..."
I actually think review sites are very helpful. Not everyone who reads them follows the opinion of the reviewer; many people read them just for information (what kind of game is it? Is there multiplayer? How long will it last me? etc.) By reading reviews from many different sources with varying opinions, you can piece together what the game will be like and decide whether it's for you or not. Games aren't cheap, and I don't think anyone wants to spend money (or time) on a game she doesn't like. Sure, rentals and returns allow you to try out games without losing much money, but there are some cases when those options aren't available.

FFTA was a disappointment. It definitely wasn't as good as TO. But I agree about the preparations and classes. I find picking classes and managing 149841235235 weapons and armour to be a chore and it just takes too much time. I think I spent like 70 hours on TO on just a file. But then, I was trying to get almost everything I could.

I blew through it the day I bought the cart (played early levels on Sega Channel first, admittedly)...and to the one who said "Good enough of a reason for me never to pick up the game," well...you miss out.
