Hmm. Well, the character database for the people is starting to take shape... so... WHAT DOES EVERYONE WANT? www.thegreatbeyond.net/DarkTwilkitri/images/cdb01.pngHere is the current status. Ignore my mindless drivel (everything that's not in a table). The coloured parts are just the pieces I have set up to currently extract from the database. Ergo, I have not set up the database interaction for the classes section yet. They will _not_ stay that colour. Ignore the Lord Knight -> Lord Knight thing. Using Sigurd as the test character was a bad idea because he only has one class. So I just put Lord Knight in twice for the moment. I also have to put in the Holy Blood - I'm tossing up whether to put that above or below the classes. I also need to know how, exactly, I'm going to get it working (because of the 2Gen characters with variable, and all the characters which we don't know the blood of). Family tree information is going to go below the classes... I'm still unsure as to how I'm going to structure it. I'd like a nice tree shaped thing, but I don't know how to go about it. Is there anything which I've forgotten/that you want which you want included? State it here and I'll do my best... But _not_ battle sprites. I tossed up doing that but decided it wasn't really worth the effort. Unless I get a massive amount wanting them... Of course, if the FE4SRP had been more successful, I might not have been against them as much :/ Finally, the page isn't going to look like that... it's going to be in FEE's layout, with the side menus and green background that entails. Remember the non-db version from awhile back? www.thegreatbeyond.net/DarkTwilkitri/FEE/charsigurd.htmIf you abhor that layout (why haven't you told me before now >.>), then tell me... After I get everything working, people can post requests for which characters they want added next here (because I'm adding one character a week, dont you know... I was originally going to do the whole thing at once, but only just recently realised how amazingly stupid that idea was, which was also the reason for my slackness (creating a huge database is _not_ my idea of fun.)) The databases (there's a weapon one, too, which I haven't started on yet) will be updated according to the Holiday Update Schedule (at least during the holidays, anyway, and according to the T&C on the schedule...): www.thegreatbeyond.net/DarkTwilkitri/update.php

Map sprites would neaten up the class images. I prefered the weapon icons to the word Spear in stupidly huge letters. Thats all I can think of.

The map sprites... Hmm... I can do that. Should even be able to get them in the different colours and get the page to differentiate between them. Question is, where exactly are you thinking I should put them?
The only place I can think of is to the left and right of the name, and IMO I think that would look a bit tacky... I'll see later today. If you had somewhere in mind then tell me...
The problem with the weapon icons is that a: they're small, and I don't want to blow them up and pixellate them, really... and b: they may not make sense to everyone. I know when I first started playing FE I thought that the spear one was a different type of sword, before it clicked in my mind how the rankings and stuff worked. I wouldn't exactly call it stupidly huge letters... if I remember my stylesheet correctly, it's only 20px... I can decrease the size if you want. But remember, my screen resolution is 1152x864, so if you're using a lower resolution they will look bigger on your screen than on mine. This could be why you think that they're big. ...why isn't there a relative sizing for fonts...
I was thinking about Skills last night... I don't know whether I should include them or not... I mean, they could go in the sparse Classes section, but there's the same problem with the 2g characters as there is with the Holy Blood. Although there isn't a problem with the out-game characters, because they don't have classes and thus I wouldn't need to worry about it... too bad I can't do that with the Holy Blood too...
Oh yeah, that reminds me -
Do people care if it has the class' rank with weapons before Holy Blood effects? This goes back to the same problems. It would be _very_ easy to code in alterations to the ranks depending on blood, but you've got the same problems with the 2g people, where the blood is unknown. Meh.
...glad to see that just about everyone is in such awe of the design that they can't find anything wrong with it...

the design is a personal thing, so go with whatever please ur eyes ^^. i think listing class data prior to holy blood modification is more accurate, and you can always include a holy blood bonus section later.
anyway, cheer for making another fire emblem site. the more the better~!! actually, quality is also of paramount importance..
... so make it good ^^. and if u ever need help, post here xD (i doubt u need it tho heheh).

I've set it up so that people with variable Holy Blood have been labelled as such. The current status is: www.thegreatbeyond.net/DarkTwilkitri/images/cdb11.pngwww.thegreatbeyond.net/DarkTwilkitri/images/cdb12.pngIt makes it look like the Holy Blood section wastes a lot of space, but it doesn't... No-one has that much blood The class section does look a lot better with the icons... Maybe so, but I'm a programmer, not a graphic designer... Other people are far better at that than I am :/ Heh, FEE's been running since May/June... I've just been _really_ slack at updating it. So, now I'm onto doing to family tree section! GOD. IT. IS. TEDIOUS. I've already had to cut the tree back from doing 5 generations to 2½ generations... Previous Generation (Parents only - no aunts/uncles) Current Generation (Focus, Focus's spouse, Focus's siblings and their spouses, Focus's spouse's siblings and their spouses) Next generation (Children of everyone in CurGen) Doing a sweep of 5 gens would get just about everyone in the family, but it's too much... At the moment I'm just working on extracting everyone from the database, so far I've got the PreGen and the CurGen done. And then I have to _tabulate it all_. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW HARD THAT IS GOING TO BE. Anyways, I'll set up the Crap Usage Page(TM) after I've finished and inserted it into the layout, then I'll work on the WDB. Should be easier. Then after I've done the WDB and the Crap Usage Page(TM) for the WDB, I'll work on the Basic Usage Pages(TM) for the both of them, and then the Advanced Usage Pages. This is where it's going to get fun

For Holy blood you could use the small icons seem in the Armies menu. With Nationality and that. As for Second gen which can Vary put the minimum it could possibly be (ie, Sylvias children will always have minour Blagi put something like Blagi Minour + (male parent)). The way I would put the weapons info is Sword: A. The icons just make things look nicer.

I tossed up between the small and the big icons, but I decided that I thought the big icons looked better... and besides, it's not a very big segment anyways...
That's basically what I was going to do for the variable people, anyway... except instead of having the + male parent somewhere, I currently have 'This character's Holy Blood is variable' written above the section label. Hmm.
That reminds me - did anyone ever find a holy blood calculator? If not, I should make one sometime... shouldn't be that hard...
I'll try the classweapinfo suggestion, and see how it turns out.
I NOW KNOW HOW HARD IT IS. And the result is:
Incredibly :/
Still, I Shall Persevere. It's going to take more than hard code to force me to do the family data un-treelike. I've already had to discard one method and go on to a variation, though... but the variation is promising. I just hope I can catch all the different formats. Still, even if it turns out that there's errors which my test tree doesn't cover, I'll probably find them and fix them before anybody notices (since I test everything locally before I upload it).

A Holy Blood calculator? What's that?
Major holy blood goes down to the same gender child as major. Like if you par Lachesis with full Hezul, Nanna will have full Hezul, but not Delmud. This is usually true... Altena and Cuan... Brigit and Faval... exceptions...
If a Holy Blood calculator isn't what I am thinking it is... um... @.@

There was a thread on it awhile back, which, IIRC, ended up formulating rules which covered all the exceptions.

Yeah, heh, I was there @.@
I found the girl to girl and guy to guy rule to be most reliable, but I think now that the full blood always tries to go back to the original gender of the first holy crusaders. That would explain the guy to guy and girl to girl thing, and the exceptions, since Noba and Altena are both female @.@

YAR.
Through the magic of TGU 2004, FEE has been updated.
I ended up scrapping the Family Tree thing, as it was 50% of what was stopping me from working on it.
People can figure out who and what are currently in the databases themselves - have fun.
Now!
This thread is now open to request characters to be added to the database. I haven't decided on a schedule yet, but it'll probably be every week or something.
No, you can't request weapons. Weapons will be added when a character has one which isn't already there, or if all the character's weapons are currently in the database I will choose one to add.

It looks like I'll be doing Cuan, then.
TF, that last comment has got me confused now. Which list are you talking about, exactly?
