There will be 6 different kinds of Magic. You can use all of them, but those with the same affinity as the book they're using gets special bonus. Also, if you attack someone with magic that their affinity is weak to, then you get bonuses.

Here is the advantage chart:
Fire > Thunder(Air) > Ice(Water) > Earth

Nature > Light > Dark > Nature#nosmileys
