just got home from my school's spring fair...went to the-magicbox.com and nearly had a heart attack seeing those screens there. I knew this'll be a winter release rather than around April...........ooo cel-shaded battles

Hey is it me or does this game look like it'll be returning to the 80HP stat cap? Just since Aike has around 40 HP in that battle pic.

Yeah it does...Who knows it could be even higher. Also Aik cant be that high of a level considering he is doing 8 pts of damage to the opponent with a 2% clt =P.

So is that part with Scenerio attacking the Dean Soldier, is that a map battle (in which case yay, it looks like they may have brought back actually animations for map attacks), or is it a normal battle and that one with 'Paris' versus the Deros Soldier is a 'special' battle?
But, a special battle against an ordinary soldier... that wouldn't make sense...
In any case, how does he only have 2 Crt when he's using a Kill Sword ?!? Methinks maybe they haven't implemented everything yet... especially since the enemy with the Killer Lance has exactly the same stats against him.

Little has been revealed about how this latest entry in the series will play aside from the obvious being that it's a simulation RPG in the vein of previous titles. It seems that the move to 3D will bring about some changes to gameplay as well. One of the screens released so far includes a statistic for a "Special Attack" command; we're sure you can figure out what this does. IGN.combecause of this Animal People... this is like the Change from Lodoss to Crystania... (FE6 and 7 are losely insired by lodoss so FE8 will be by Crystania??(sequell to lodoss)) on Lodoss the War of the Gods raged many centuries.. the dark Gods awakend ancient dragons to fight at their side... these dragons are the only beings equal to a gods power and became known as devourers(bad spelling) of gods... soon they turned against their Masters... No gods remained in Lodoss they parished.. only a few survivors fled south and created a great barrier(rampart of the gods) an in this an new land... crystania land of the Gods... By doing so the used up allmost all of their powers and to survived fused their souls with animals... 1 became a Lion, another a snake, a Fox, a Bear, a Tiger, a swan.... they sealed away the few dragons who pusiut them... but this seals are slowly weakening... Meanwhile they created their own "Kindoms"... the inhabitants are humans but they can shift to animals releated to the God they are following... each clan think itself superior to the others... so they lived separated in their kindoms... but there is the danger of the weakening seals... but one of this Gods(Barbas->Tiger) became more powerful with time and to get controll over all of crystania plan to revive the dragons... some poeple became aware of this threat an the Fang of the Wolf(?? Forgot the name) was founded... different Clan waorking together... somewhat of an Alliance.... in the original Series a band of outsiders(outside Crystania) got involved... led by Barbas into the holy Lands of Crystania... (Barbas intention remain hidden ) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I think the FE8 story will loosely be based on this... but we can only guess I could explain the Lodoss-FE6/7 connection as well but there is a threat allready...

I think you're right about the "map battle" theory - notice how only HP is shown, but not damage, accuracy, or critical rate. The second picture is probably a normal "animated" battle.
I guess instead of switching to a different screen for battles, the camera just zooms in on the fighting and then zooms back out after the fight is over. The close-up shots show that the game definity has a ways to go in the graphics department.

One thing that I'm still wondering a lot about is the 3D map. The map shown in the ad looks like one of the small-scale maps for an FE game, where the houses are bigger than the characters. But what about the large-scale maps where a character is just as big as a house or a mountain? Will those be implemented?
Speaking of houses and mountains, I also wonder how terrain will work. For example, there are some trees shown in the given map, but they look more like obstacles than "terrain." It doesn't look like a character could stand on that space with the tree. How are forests, fortresses, and mountains going to be handled? Maybe the terrain is going to be treated more like terrain in FFT/Tactics Ogre.
And finally, I wonder if elevation will play a role in the game. Sure, those buildings and trees stick out of the ground, but the ground itself is completely flat. I wonder if other maps in the game will feature elevation changes (and I wonder how they will be shown - I hate it when isometric SRPG's have terrain that looks like a bunch of square building-blocks stacked on top of each other.)

Senerio looks really cool IMO. I'm sort of so-so on this game so far. I'm probably the only one who actually prefers 32bit graphics =P. For strategy RPGs at least.
