Retail stores posting a date means nothing. There won't be a release date, or even an estimated US release announced until E3.

References don't have to be spoken.

There's an episode of Weiss Kruez where someone (Yoji, I think) is sneaking into this building. The music is about as close as they could make it to Mission: Impossible music without getting sued, and listening to it, it's easy to tell. That's an aural reference, but definitely not spoken.

There's a moment in the film Goodbye Lenin (which everyone should see, by the way) where Alex's coworker is showing him a film he edited of some couple's wedding. The segment of the film that he shows is edited and has the same soundtrack as a particular shot of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Visual reference, and although he explains it, the reference itself is completely nonverbal. ^_~
