Lucius is much so better. Why? HE CAN USE AUREOLA. Your Serra will usually end up maxing Staffs before Magic! That and Lucius does max 4 stats.

Healers are Healers. They heal with staves. Mages are Mages. They attack with Anima Magics. Shamans are Shamans. They attack with Dark Magic. SO, Monks are Monks. They attack with Light magic.

So if Monks are well adapted to Light Magic, and Healers are well adapted to Staves, which one do you think is going to stand a better chance against the Enemy: Serra, a HEALER; or Lucius, a MONK.

I'd have to say that Lucius would be the better light magic user. It takes Serra so long to get to a level worthy of promotion, especially considering that she only gets about 8-12 EXP points per turn (but I could be wrong). Also, I usually use the guilding rings on erk, canas, lucius, etc. I've only promoted a healer once, it was Serra, she wasn't all too good, and I had to use an Earth Seal. Then, I had no promotional item for Nino until it was too late to raise her as a Sage. But anyways, i personally prefer Lucius.

When healing HP, it is normally 10EXP. When using other staves, it varies from 20EXP - ??EXP. ( I don't know how it can get, but it is at least 50.)

all i do is when i get restore or barrier,i use it like crazy because its worth 20 exp.

It really isn't that hard to get Serra up to a good level before promotion. And if you bother maxing Serra at Lv 20/20, you'll see that she has far more significant levels than Lucius gets.

Lucius maxes four stats-- so what? Does this matter if his luck and defense stay way low in the pits? Serra gets a high amount of every statistic, save defense-- and she'll end up having maxed a several stats as well, since Bishops have really low stat caps. But not only that, Serra's luck will probably be in the 25+ range at 20/20, compared to Lucius's usual pitiful 8+. That's a LARGE advantage in dodging, critical avoidance rate.

Serra's heavy advantage in luck is what makes her superior to Lucius-- her growth rates are high enough so that she'll be able to max a few other stats as well, these being speed, magic, resistance, etcetera.

And Shoen, uh, your arguement is a tad flawed. Does it matter if Lucius gets skills in Light magic before promotion? Serra is able to use light magic & staves after promotion, and the same goes for Lucius, they both have the ability to build their skills up in both and be able to become master healers & fighters. I'd think a character with SUPERIOR statistics is going to stand a better chance aganist an enemy, weapon skill is not important in that case.

Only real problem with Serra is that she's a little hard to build up before promotion, which is easily countered if you know what you're doing. And her skill may be a little low(will usually only end up around 20-22 at 20/20) and she has a slightly higher chance of being screwed over by the RNG. If I had to choose between Serra & Lucius-- I'd definitely go with Serra anytime.

Well, getting Serra an S in light magic should be doable enough, you just need to make sure you use her enough, and only heal with her in emergencies.
Just make sure she gets enough fights in, my Serra got stuck with a nearly maxed A level in light by the end of the final chapter

The sad part is that Lucius' biggest edge is usually 3 higher magic points compared to Serra, while Serra has a ton of luck making her a much better attacker because she dodges amazing. So, you're wrong.

I find Serra quite hard to level up in conjunction with priscilla. I also find that my Serra is 20/20 by the time I get her to S-Level Light, if I do, while Lucius isn't hard to get up to A level staff, and you almost can always get him up to B-level staff.

Serra and Lucius at 20/20, and I'll take Serra anyday. They have the same speed, even though Lucius maxes, and Serra does not. 2 Res points don't really make a difference, you fight about so few magic users compared to ground, and Serra can just as easily as Lucius tank up Magic users.

Skill points really don't matter, simply because Serra's going to be hitting them so damn often anyway, really not going to have a problem with misses.

The tough thing to get around for Lucius is the 18 or so luck points which means Serra just dodges, over and over again on Lucius.

20/20, Serra is better, but I don't think by much, and if I'm using Priscilla, I take Lucius, I don't think it's worth it to take it to 20/20.

Bah, I won't even argue. Not a real important thing to start a flame war about. All I say is this, I prefer Lucius over Serra for a whole load of reasons, and that's that. Plain and simple, end of story, kapeesh!

I didn't abuse the arena...ok. I did a little with Lucius until level 20. Then, I raised Serra normally, like using Barrier when your units don't need it.

If any of you lot try a "worst recruitement...ever" game (me and my friends are getting arround to it) then Serra will be the only Party member who can Use Staffs AND Magic (Before Final chapter, that is). Note: This isn't tested.

Just an amusing fact to point out.

I myself think Lucius is better to PLAY with than Serra. Oh wow Serra gets better if you spend the time to hour level in the arena.
So what, my play throughs are usually 14 hours and that with 2 in craptics and thats way too slow. Imagine how slow that would be if I took the time to get Serra to 20/20. I tend to use the healers for a while then bench them. Pent and Lucius are very good healers.

I favour the swift,fun stratagy over the pointless, arduous one. I don't care if the arduous one is easier the swift one is simple enough.
