Okay, I'm hyped about this game. Of all the characters so far, Hattori Hanzo is going to be my fave. My most anticipated character though, has to be the Tiger of Kai, Takeda Shingen. Any other premature favorites, or anticipated characters?

So... do I have this right...?
I missed the article (I meant to read it, but it was gone from GameFAQs when I decided to), so I'm just going from what I can make out...
They're going to make a game like Dynasty Warriors, that is not based on the 3 Kingdoms era...? OMFG... I've been waiting for this for a long time! Not that there's anything wrong with the 3 Kingdoms (hell, I LOVE the 3 Kingdoms), it's just that it'd be nice to have a little change.
Bwahaha! I'm looking forward to expanding my "PS2 Dynasty-games" collection >=D

Sengoku are based on Japanese History. I was really into Japanese History when I got to Gr 6, I mean, I started to get into it.
KOEI makes a lot of Sengoku games in Japanese and Chinese, but those never get translated into English (which I don't mind at all, I'll never want to play a translated one anyway...)
Sengoku Musou has similar play-style as Sangoku Musou, but I just don't know how they are going to put the plots in. I mean, there are way too many Empires at that time, and it is hard for them to make a plot for each. Unless they want to do it like Xtreme Legend and have Legends mode for different characters.
(Which would suck.)
P.S. I didn't read the article either.

This is a bump.
Sengoku Musou is great. My prediction was right, each character have their own story-line, and on average, each character have 5 stages. Sometimes there are 2 routes depend on some conditions, (which I am not sure of, yet), but anyway...
What I dislike about the game is most of the characters. Maybe it would have been better if I hadn't known them in the first place. The "Imoto-san" of Nubo is actually his older sister in history, for instance. And she is supposed to be a !#%*&$(%* that sooo many men wanted her.
Now she's some underage girl. Bleah. Crushed my hope. (Yes she is one of my favor girl in Japanese History ><) Man, it would be great if they just took the OniMusha 2 design for her, the same way how they stole the Nubo's design.
And there are too many irrelevant characters who piss me off. Like WHY THE HELL ARE YOU APPEARING IN SOMEONE ELSE'S CASTLE? DON'T FOOL ME I KNOW YOU DON'T BELONG HERE.
On the brighter side of things, the character development and item system is great so far. I have HEARD that you can meet Lu Bu in the game >< (if you reach lv 30 in that "unlimited dungeon..." I have yet to confirmed that, I've only been to lv 23 ><)
Enough spoilers. Back to the game.

You played it? =O! Not fair! I gotta wait 'till March 22 I think. ;_____;
But I just gotta know... did they really improve the Edit Mode like they said they would? And are there any Dynasty Warriors character's moves in there?
(BTW... spoil all you want, kanzakii... I'd like to know all I can!)

Oh, MAN.... This sounds good, but one of the things that I loved about Dynasty Warriors/ROTK/Kessen 2 is that I know the book inside out. Now I'm going to have to do research in order to know what the hell they're talking about...

I'm not sure about the edit mode yet... It's like the what, fourth or fifth day I have this game.
Afk getting coffee.
Well, I know the history about the Sengoku, so it is easy for me... actually there are only a few stages which is in history. Most of them are edited, and some are just made up. Kind of hard to pull out a plot when there are too many irrelevant characters I guess...
Oda Nobunaga and Uesugi Kenshin are probably my favourite so far. I always liked them when I read the books, and the design fit them pretty well... (not really in Nobu's case)

A little update: After a few more days of playing, Here is a list of characters whom I will NOT use ever again:
Akechi Mitsuhide Kunoichi Oichi Mori Ranmaru Okuni Ishikawa Goemon Date Masamune
That's 7 characters out of 15.
And some characters whom I have little interests in: Hattori Hanzo Nouhime Takeda Shingen
I dislike those characters either because they change their stories a little too much, or the character design is just plain wrong.
So basically there is only 5 characters I like... not really "like", but they are alright. Meh.

[glow=green,2,300]I like playing Dynasty Warriors/ROTK/Kessen games and Samurai Warriors looks good. Now, the only question I have at the moment is... What is the game based on? Is it based on a book like ROTK or what?[/glow]

[glow=green,2,300]What is the game based on? Is it based on a book like ROTK or what?[/glow] I think they just took a bunch of characters/events from Japanese history (I haven't played it yet though... so I don't know for sure =[). Judging by Kanzakii's posts, it sounds like there are plenty of irrelevant things in it...

[glow=green,2,300] You'd think these people would learn! <_< I've read a few books that have videogames or movies out and I think that it helps one learn a little more about the series if they did that. I mean, honestly...how many people read the book for Halo? It give alot of details about master chief and how he was "bought" by...well, get the book and you'll know. Honestly, who here would read a 120 chapter book for fun? Not many. Once you stamp "ROTK/Romance of the Three Kingdoms" on the cover, I bet you more people will read it. That's how I learned about the book and the book is that damn good >=)[/glow]

I read Romance of the Three Kingdoms when I was in Gr 3 or 4... In Chinese. Not as a required reading.
And Sengoku Musou is based on... Duh, the Sengoku period in Japanese history. It is not based on a book, because none of the Japanese history book especially stands out. There is a book(s) called Tokugawa Ieyasu, about 72 volumes, ~300 pages each... and yes, I read them all.
The thing is, you will eventually hate the game if you actually know the history. Because it lacks a lot of characters, plots, and events.
But if you are just for the action, character development, and ninja-just-rocks, then go for it.
