Ooh. I was checking out the website, reading up on the new levels. And I'm very happy to see that they've finally paid some attention to the Qiao sisters (well, in this case it's just Xiao) and Cao Cao's Bronze Bird Tower, or whatever the hell it's called in Chinese (my edition of the novel translated it). I mean, Cao Cao wanting those girls was part of what touched off Chi Bi in the first place...

Yah, Zhou Yu heard that Cao Cao wanted Xiao Qiao, and that's why he advised Sun Quan to attack . . . or something. I still haven't read it.

Actually, it was Zhuge Liang who said "Cao Cao wants to have two Qiaos" on the Bronze Bird Tower. (LoL..it translates that to that? Bronze Bird sounds fine...Tower...hmmm....)
Well, such thing never happened in real history due to the chronological order of the two events. The two events were "The battle at Chi Bi" and the poem written by Cao Cao's forth son...(which...I hate pinyin.)
Anyway, the story is this. The Sun's wanted to surrender to Cao Cao, while Zhuge Liang wants the Sun's to fight Cao Cao (in order for Liu Bei to survive) so he went to those guys and tried to talk it out.
He said that Cao Cao wanted to have two Qiao at his Bronze Bird Tower, and Zhou Yu didn't believe him and asked for prove. Liang masterfully recited a poem by Cao Cao's son (again...I hate pinyin) and changed a little something leading Zhou Yu to believe that it's true, and he went from the surrendering to declaring war with Cao Cao, because Xiao Qiao is his wife.
Well, the Bronze Bird Tower was built 2 years after the battle at Chi Bi, and the poem was written 1.) at the same year, 2.) several years after it was built. (No one is sure about it..) But anyway, it is after the battle at Chi Bi.
But who cares? It's just a novel. But Cao Cao never wanted two Qiaos at the Bronze Bird thingy. Liang changes the word "Bridge" ( ¾ô ) to "Qiao" ( ³ì ), and those two words sound the same in Chinese. A little trick...

... it's just a novel!? Well... I guess you kinda got a point... but I never knew about that part of the story before (well, at least in that amount of detail... I knew about the whole "Cao wanting Qiao" incident). That just shows that I need to read ROTK... But why did Cao write a poem for wanting a bridge? Does this only seem strange to me...? ;;

I'd forgotten all about that pun. I just remember Zhuge going "OH BTW CAO CAO WANTZ UR WIFEY" and Zhou Yu going "OMG CAO U SUK PLZ DIE KTHX."
I need to reread the whole thing. When I have time. =/

Hmm, RotK didn't have all that. I don't think they have the original poem, but just the one Liang changed. Well, at least not in the same part of the book...I don't remember if the novel has mentioned the event where Cao Cao wanted his sons to write poems praising the Bronze Bird thingy they dug out.
So, the "pun", that little trick was not mentioned in the novel.
In the poem his son wrote, he didn't say he want two bridges...it just stated about two bridges. Zhuge Liang changed the words around and made it to be something like... "hugging" 2 Qiaos in the South East, blah blah blah. Of course, I'm just translating that literally, the original poem is more beautiful.

I assumme the son your talking about is Cao Zhi, the famous poet, and the one who pined after Zhen Ji, Cao Pi's wife?

It's mentioned in my edition of the novel. But in the footnotes. And I didn't read them as closely as I read the text itself.

Mine doesn't have footnotes... But most of the old classics I have don't have footnotes, I guess footnotes weren't very popular back then.

Umm... does anybody know where a good place is to get lv20 items and lv4 orbs? Difficulty really isn't a factor for me... I just need to max out all my items and orbs! I had Xu Chang suggested to me before... but I didn't have a whole lot of luck with it.
So... does anybody have any suggestions? I really want to get all my items maxed before I get DW4: Xtreme Legends...

I've had the best luck getting good items playing Yi Ling as the Shu forces, on hard. But even then they're still kind of rare.

I should've guessed that would come from you... j.k.
I'll have to try that tomorrow... and I also gotta finish getting my endings...
BTW Iris... how goes your DW RP? I see that you've got more people on your boards AND in your RP than me... (oh, and I love the menu on the top ^_^)
Think I'm not promoting enough or something? =(

I haven't done much whoring, actually. I've put it in my sig at boards I frequent, and I mentioned it in my LiveJournal. That was pretty much it. And a couple of my members have dragged people they know in.
Eh? *blink*
