Except all she gets is Pinch Strike and Mareeta gets all those skills as mentioned and skills tend to be more important in FE5 since stats max out at 20.

I find her extra Defense and HP to be a SERIOUS bonus. Especially against bosses and super accurate Ballistas.
Pinch Hit allows her to hit first, and depending on the weapon, that can be a serious advantage. Given, Moonlight Hit completely ignores one of Machyua's biggest pluses, but I just find her to be more reliable. Mareeta's skills don't activate all that often for me.
::snork::
How can you miss a ballista! It's twice as big as you are!! And stationary!

Both of them kicks butt, end of story. Having the ability to use more than one type of weapon is always a plus for me.
I guess I'm not the only one who's annoyed that ballistas can actually dodge this time around. It like giving the walls in FE6 and 7 the ability to dodge... or a tent dodging.

Are you actually hitting the Ballista or the guy manning it? Those things IRL back in the day didn't work by themselves.

Actually . . . they BOTH dodge! You can't tell me one man could lift a piece of equipment approximately twice the size of an SUV.
. . .
There are walls? And they can DODGE?! If I didn't love Fire Emblem so much, I would say it was stupid.

At least FE6 and FE7 made sense since the when you attacked ballista's you could kill the archer and steal it.

And Tear Ring Saga allowed one of your units to become a long arch for the rest of the battle. So its move and transform (kind of anyway). This topic is about... what, again Mareeta or walls dodging or was it once about SALEM!!!

I'm just kidding about the walls dodging in FE6 and 7. Anyway Salem rocks, so there.

Dark magic is incredibly easy to get, actually. There's tons of levels with infinite reinforcements of dark mages.
Salem with Hell and Fenrir is fun since Fenrir seems easier to get a hold of than all the other long-range magic (blizzard is the hardest for sure).

Its more about the matter of leveling yourself up enough to use the higher level dark magic since Salem tends to be more useful as a staff user.

For me, Salem attacks and uses staffs. But like I keep saying, I use Salem to capture. He's the only magic user I use for capturing... well I use Owen to capture too.

Well Yotsumungand is way easier to get than any of the light magic (only one store that sells lightning, which would usually go to Homer or any promoted priests none that sell Rizaiah (Linoian, Sara, Homer), not sure if Aura is even in FEV) and black magic gets the bonus against 3 elemental magic like light. Salem never gets really high build in my games so he can't really capture any better than Azvel/Homer/Sety Staves is good cause he has high-ish level already for an offensive unit. Its annoying if he uses up his sleep staff before you get to him tho.

I heard that if you turn off the animation and use Aura does work.
