I don't know, maybe it's because my Sigurd always had a speed ring with him. I always left him keep the speed ring you get in the prologue. Finn usually gets the speed ring in my game. =P Call me a retard.

I found one of my really old saves and, my word most characters were so lopsided. Sigurd was level 20 and his speed was still 12 (15 level ups and not a single speed gain). And I found another one where Cuan had the magic ring (oops).
Heres a way to make Certain Sigurd will not suck: Strength ring Speed Ring Defence Ring Barriar ring Leg Ring Heros sword
The result is just scary A strength 30 person with 12 movement and attacks twice and usually twice again (due to speed being about 20-27). My second gen speed ring went to Leaf. Madness was the word. Speed 27+5 and the Tornado spell equipped (he just didn't get hit).
Its a good idea to always ring your Lords up (especilly in movement).

Maybe that's the reason why my Siggy rocks.

Finn usually gets the speed ring in my game. =P Call me a retard. Same here.. =P I always let Finn get the village with the Speed ring in prologue, just because it really helps him.. Duke Knights have a low speed cap and Finn + Speed Ring + Hero Spear = Dead Enemy! Finn will not only attack twice because of the Hero Spear, but Pursuit will get activated more often thanks to his higher speed too! So that will be 4 hits..

That's usually what I do too . . . but sometimes I let Noish get it. Berserk is your friend.

When I try capturing enemies, skills and critical strikes are NOT really my friends. I mean, I place Havlan near Tanya and suddenly, she is a critical hits queen. Of course, Archers CAN'T arrest enemies anyway, so they either kill them or just injure them (if they can harm them). This makes Tanya fairly hard to send to assist in arrest attempts. -_-

That one of the reasons why I find Archer to be pretty useless in the game. There aren't many flying enemies in the game. Plus now that spell have the extra power against fliers too, there's just really no reason to bring an Archer with you.

Bows and Arrows are pretty bad in fe5. The best archers are Selfina and Xaviar due to the fact they have a high bow level so they can use the decent bows (killer and hero). They also arn't really that bad. Tornado thats the spell your talking about, Asvel blew in my game so by the time I had anyone who could use tornado there were no more flying units. I also find the spear to be pretty poor. Dean and Finns personal weapons are the only good thing (oh yeah the weapons you can't get normally HOW could I forget them). Yes, Kein and Alva were great characters but they would be useless for the last chapters due to their sword level being E (why fe5 could have done with the weapon level stat). As if you will get a Gerneral up to a high spear level for the last chapters, its like getting Salem to use Fenrir (in other words its too hard).

It's idiotic for Ninnytendo to ban Axe Knights, Lance Knights, Social Knights, Duke Knights, "Great" Knights, and Paladins from using Axes/Lances when dismounted. It's really stupid for a Knight to use Swords and call them an Axe Knight or Lance Knight. Not only that, but there are foot units called Soldiers and Axemen who can use Lances and Axes respectively WITHOUT being mounted.
If Ninnytendo brings back Axe and Lance Knights in another FE, they better rectify this idiocy. Most likely by making sure Axe Knights, Lance Knights, and Free Knights are absolutely restricted to Axes, Lances, and Swords respectively.

First of all, Leaf IS a sucky leader, I don't really care if you use him a lot, and the growth rates make a lot of sense when you consider the classes of the units. Leaf is a lord, so he has average growth stats overall, Othin is an axe fighter, so he excels in HP, strength, and build. Othin gets the Puche early in the game, which makes him invaluable to use. In almost all AAA gameplays, Othin is the most useful character (he's better than Maleeta because you get her halfway through the game and she requires some leveling, while Othin can naturally progress through the game).
The only reason to not care about growth rates is if you use scrolls, and that's probably what you did with your Leaf. I know that's what I did with characters that I liked using. And putting Fin in the comparison is silly, Fin's growth rates, compared to Kein, Alva, and Carrion, are way inferior.
Besides gameplay reasons, there's another reason why these knights don't use axes/lances on foot. Knights take advantage of the height and mobility of a horse to be able to weild large weapons like axes and lances, by going on foot, they lose that advantage, and especially in the case of lances, they cannot use these weapons on foot. These weapons are HUGE, they're not like swords which were designed for foot use. It's the reason why KNIGHTS use axes and lances on horseback, while the horseback units that use swords only are mercenaries/freelance knights.
