Well, I've just finished chapter 5 in the first book and quite ready to continue when all of a sudden the emulator just shut down.
Try as might, The emulator still freezes up and shuts down everytime I reach the world map that appears before chapter six. Does someone know of a way to get around this thing?

As a matter of fact, Yes. Do you think it could be the cause of this problem?

I think so myself. I've just recently played FE4 with a patch and it screws up more often

Yes!! It's done. I've just beaten chapter 5 on the non-patch version and might I say that it was running much better than before further proving the patch theory. Thanks a lot for the help, guys. ^_^

If you were using the patch for translations, there are sites that have dialouge and story translations, just read them after beating the level or something.

You can't have perfect translation. Perfect translation would be literal therefore making little sense and being very dull to read. Translators do paraphrase and liven dialogue up. One of the Dragon quest games is a example of this.
Most translation efforts are very good if: -They lack bugs -They don't need ROM extensions (i.e. they have efficient dictionaries/compression routines) -Make the game fun to play (Reppetetive drone dialogue makes you want to fall asleap 5 minutes after playing) -Use VWF.*
*VWF is Variable Width Fonts. It means that letters pack themselves close together when a line lacks space rather than going off the screen.
Here are some examples of good translation efforts: -Star Ocean (a few bugs need to be resolved but a charm to play) -Seiken Densetsu 3 (havn't played this myself but lots of effort went into text compression mainly because the testers ROM dumper had a limit to ROM size) -Bharmut Lagoon (Supposedely a good effort *2)
*2 In the UK, Edge Magazine (once considerd the grail of computer game magazines) ran this title as their retro feature. Poorely researched is the best term I can say. It didn't name the translation group behind the translation (insted saying fan translations) , I think it got the year of release wrong and I think it said the "first S-RPG trash" (usually associated with Final Fantasy Tactics, Shining For False or Tactics Craptics Ogre). Edge has been going downhill for years, I don't think video game magazines will ever reach the early/mid 90s peak they had. Edge itself might improve now that Tony Mott (a good, and experianced video games journalist) has been put in charge.
As for the patch packing up, Shame isn't it. Its a case that happens far too often. Its good when the people admit to their errors and note them in the readme that comes with the patch (e.g. the short game, Tenchi Myuo RPG where they explain the stats page actually doesn't have any stats as they couldn't find any!) but its annoying when they don't (then lie about the progress).
An example would be Fire Emblem Gaiden (Apparentely 1% of the dialogue is most the map Dialogue, the Ending and some weapons/classes) and they kept quiet the Ragnarok bug and classes/weapons having wrong names.
