Looks interesting =)
I hope they improve the edit mode though... I know they mentioned it. Or that'd be nice if they added another model or two for each character... you know, like perhaps their Dynasty Tactics model (like Lu Bu's in DW3 XL... <3)
I'd actually rather see a new one, but if enough things are different, it ought to be fun. In the meantime, I'll have fun with Samurai Warriors! =D

I know this thread is old. Anyway... To start it off, Sangoku Musou 3: Empires is great. If you like Sangoku Musou (The action and the characters), and if you like some Dynasty Tactics, and some Strategy (Think RoTK), and some RPG-elements mixed into the game... get Empires. While it is not as flexible as you think, the Strategy part really did add a lot to the game. No, you don't get to appoint each general to a task each turn. No, you don't get to select what their tasks (ie, Ally with certain rulers, produce this, upgrade that). Rather, in every month, each general will propose a plan, which consists of 2 tasks, and you pick one of the general plans and s/he will carry that out in the month (I think each turn is a month... didn't pay much attention. Nobody cares about the time). For instance, Zhou Yu suggests producing Lv.2 Ice Orb, and hire Lu Xun who's in the field. Maybe you don't really want Lv.2 Ice Orb, but you're so in love with Lu Xun, then you'll choose this proposal for the month, and get your Orb and your man. ...If you have played any of the RoTK Strategy games, you would know what is (one of) the most important in the game. Money, Gold, Gil, Z, $, or whatever the hell you like to call it. Why, you ask. Well, to produce Ice Orb for example will cost you 300 gold iirc, and maybe you like Lu Xun... but Lu Xun doesn't like you, so you'll have to pay him 2800 (Assuming he's lvl 2, with lv 1 weapon) for his service. (Actually you'll have to pay him anyway. It doesn't matter if he likes you or not. No money, no service. Yes I purposely said service.) ...Mind you, 2800 is A LOT, when you just started off. That also goes for captured generals, which I'll talk about later. Similar to Tactics and RoTK, you get to choose where you invade. Say you want to invade Cao Cao since he is too cool. I did. And sucks for him he only has 1 city/territory left. With your pointer above his territory, you will see how many generals and soldiers he has. Ok, 8k soldiers, Lv 2 Cao Cao, Lv 2 Xiahou Dun and Yuan. That's pretty weak, so I invaded them. Now pick the generals. Oh yeah, at the beginning you need to choose a ruler, but if you don't like to use the ruler, screw him. You can pick which generals you'll like to play AS during the each battle. And each general has a Current/Max soldier... which does not recover after the battle. (Yeah, you will need to use those commands/tasks things the generals suggests you each month to recover the units. And it costs money, too.) Then in the battle preparation screen, you see the usual. One thing to keep in mind though, you will CONSUME the items you equip. As least it is like that for me so far. After the battle they're gone. In the battle, when you defeat a general (ie. 0 HP), he may say "Retreat!" or something not as lame. That does mean retreat, because you haven't captured him, and he will RETURN TO BATTLE and fight again. I fought Xiahou Dun and Xiahou Yuan like 5 times each, then Cao Cao finally appeared. (Oh yeah, sometimes rulers don't show up right at the start) Then I defeated him and won the battle. Now you get to fun part. What do you want to do with the captured general? Two choices. Hire/Let them go. Since I didn't have money to hire any of them, I let all of them go. Money can be raised by using the generals suggested commands... and you will gain certain amount of gold for each territory you control. New generals. New generals are nice this time. You can pick ANY of the already existing generals' weapon and move... using either sex. That means, I can make a female who uses Meng Huo's King of Beasts and his mean moves... And there are 3 voices for each gender. ...I think I've missed a lot of things, but I'll just leave it at that right now.
