Why is it that I never see any mention of the critical effect which some staffs have?
...or am I just not looking hard enough...

FE5 its possible to get second heals he may have meant critical heal by a second heal.

Actually...
There are several staffs which double the healing effect on the last use. I did go through and test them all, but that was a while ago... Live Staff and Libro Staff are the only ones I can remember which do it.
I even checked. Sety healed 34 damage with the Live staff, I rewound and set the staff uses down to 1, and then he healed 68+ damage. Of course, it's fairly risky since the staff gets broken afterwards :/
Good for emulators though, since you can set staffs to always have 1 charge.

You can also heal twice if you tap the A button at the correct moment in FEG.

Well I rarely heal in FEG because I just abuse the Sisters Rizziah.

In Tear Ring Saga you could critical heal. I think it recovers the unit to full health. Still a rare occurance.
My Geuss is people don't get staffs down to one use so they don't see this critical heal in Fe4. I mean live, relive and libro are the only hp recovering staffs. And I doubt libro does it as more people would have noticed.
Oh yeah recover that put them at full hp anyway and reserve, see libro.

The problem is I normally give my staves to ppl like Sety who can practically do a full heal with just a Live staff because their magic is so high.

Yeah,you could heal up to 40 HP with a Live staff and 50 with a Relive.  Not to mention sometimes they heal twice. |
