Hmm interesting, I didn't know that. I'd figured they would go and broadcast it to the whole world that they're related. But doesn't that mean Hector is also descendant of Roland? And so is Lin. When Atos said "Descendants of Roland," I think he was referring to all three of them.

And so is Lin. When Atos said "Descendants of Roland," I think he was referring to all three of them. Roland is not the Descendants of all Lycians ?

I think what she means is that Roland lived so long ago that all the royal families in Lycia have to have some of Roland's bloodline in it somehow. (IE it's easy to imagine that the bloodline has spread that much over a thousand years..) So..they're all related to Roland, but so are many other nobles I imagine. =P Which is why I don't think they bother to go out and broadcast it. =P

*nods* That's what I meant. Although, I don't think Roland is the ancestor of EVERYONE in Lycia. Most of the nobles probably got his bloodline at the least, but not EVERYONE in Lycia. Or that country's going to be seriously inbred. A thousand years make up for a good deal of genetic diversity, but if a population all have a single gene pool... Incest isn't that bad a thing. That's the modern illusion we got from all those (inaccurate) pictures of boys sprouting three eyes and such. And in a large population like Lycia, it's probably a rather mild case. Imagine it like this....suppose Roland has around...three daughters, all of which married out. And then THEY had themselves three daughters each, which also married out into other families. And these daughters marry into other families, which might be minor nobles, et cetera. It's not really a case of incest, although they can all be related. The population is too large to call it incest in terms of inbreeding, and there's sufficient crossing overs and so and so to keep things normal. If you consider it, Grandbell is probably a worse case. Imagine, it's just around 200-400 years since the time of the crusaders, and they managed to keep their blood pretty pure. ; Or pandas. The latest news seem to say that most of the giant pandas in China now have.....roughly the same genotype. Which means, they're ALL related, and the species' doom is just a matter of time til inbreeding kills them all. If it's right.

Well I guess you're right. But I think Grandbell can keep their bloodline pure is because maybe they don't have a long enough history to really past the genes to everyone. The thing is, just cause Sigurd's blood is pure Baldo doesn't mean his father married someone with Baldo blood. If you recall, people without holy blood will not show up in the game, nor does it lower the amount of holy blood a person can have. Lachesis marries Fin, then both Nana and Delmud will still remain pure Hezul blood. The game's not gonna show "oh Fin has O type blood then we might as well add that to the holy blood chart as well."

*laughs* You're right. There probably are minor nobles around, I guess.

Besides human's are probably all incest anyway considering if you'd followed the idea of Noah's Ark

Noah's Ark.... or even the Garden of Eden if, say, Noah's Ark never happened. =P

Ooh! OOH! I wanna talk about the legend of Durandal!! CanIcanIcanI?! OKAY! So Durandal was originally a sword bestowed upon the cousin of Charlemagne, Roland (wow, what a surprise... isn't that the name of some Divine General or something?), supposedly wielded by Alexander the Great (or wait, was it Caesar? Ah well, doesn't matter). Durandal was supposedly an "unbreakable" sword that could slice anything in two. On his way through the mountains of Spain, Roland and his troupe were ambushed by the Moors, with Charlemagne's army far to the east. Facing innumerable odds, Roland attempted to blow his sacred trumpet three times in hopes of getting his brother's attention. On the third time, Roland blew the trumpet so loud that Charlemagne in Vienna (... or was it Rome?) heard the sound and the horn split in two. But Charlemagne's army was too far away, leaving Roland to fend for himself. Facing death, he threw Durandal into a poisoned pond that would burn anything it came in contact with, and his small army was swiftly put to rest. I know that all the Legendary Weapons have some sort of mythology to them; trying to find them, however, is more of a quest than one would think.... HEY!!!! i read that story before!, my dad has a plethra of old fantasy books. Durandal is also a Orbital Frame from Zone of the Ender The Fist of Mars (another SRPG if anyones played it.)

Yeah, I sound that Durandal is also a special photonic Sword in Phantasy Star Online.......
I think this Sword is famous, Durandal is for Europe that Kusanagi or Muramase are for Japon.
