On chapter 7 my level 12 Dieck died, his stats weren't bad but also not that great. I just copied the save and went on and saw that another mercenary was going to join up (Oujay). I was just wondering should I leave Dieck behind, or start over the chapter I got Rutgar to 20/3.

Dieck's been a powerhouse for me, but I've only played the game twice- might just be good luck. Anyways, Oujay is good, too, so it's not that big of a deal. Fir's a goddess, too, if you're looking for another swordmaster.
Guess I'm not so worried about losing characters since I can't read any of the supports, so I feel no regret...

The problem is, he was one of four characters I used, along with Lugh, Rutgar, and Clarine. That's it. Oh, and what level does Oujay come at?

Low, if I remember correctly. I want to say three for some reason, but my computer isn't liking the GameFAQs website and I'm almost through a chapter that I don't want to restart to get his info.
Heck, though, not as bad as Sophia or Wendy. I don't want to think about how many times I restarted the chapter where you get Sophia- she's one of the characters I'll restart for. Guess I'm biased.

Mmm, I'm almost positive that there's one in Chapter 13, and I don't really remember there being any between 8 and 13.

It depends. If you go to the route that gives you Lalam and Ekidna, then there's an arena in chapter 10. If not, then the chapter where you have to rescue Cecilia.

Anyways, Oujay does come in at Level 3.

Yup, that's route A, with the left house. You get Elphin with the one on the right, I think.
