...this game. Did it suck? Was it just odd? Is it just siting there over shadowed by the other FE games? Tell me.

I guess this game could be considered an "oddball", kinda-sorta. Also, don't forget that they remade the first one on SNES, which means that this game fell by the wayside long ago.

It's still Fire Emblem. It's just different. You walk around in a world map, and you can fight in random battles. The class change system is weird with the statue in the shrines and all. The maps are smaller though. I probably left out a lot of stuff.

Any game is worth playing for it's own merits. Even ET for Atari VCS is worth playing just as a historical reference of something that caused an entire industry to collapse. Even the worst games in history hold something for everyone to learn. If you're wanting to know if you will ENJOY playing it, my answer would be yes.

I liked Fe2 its one of the most free Fire Emblems arround. You see it has a special class known as Agnostics (the class name is quite literelly, Undecided) though the crappy "99"% translation calls them villages for some strange reason. Anyway these people can promote to Soldiers (which go on to become armours), Social Knights (who will eventually become Gold Knights one the greatest classes in fe), Mercenaries (final form is something Shogun/Samurai?), Mages or Archers.
The Magic System is strange as it uses Hp but spells still have weight and stuff. Archers can use bows in Melee combat. Also you can only hold one weapon/item. The items you get can be very useful (Defence boosting Shields, Rings that Rocover hp amoung doing other things)

it's a good one when the A.I. isn't ripping you off.
for example, I missed someone while my HIT gauge was completely full. It was weird.

It's different, but I like it. Plus, monsters, and not just dragons. Very cool.

If you are referring to FE 3 for the SNES, I think they slapped 1 on the cartridge with 3 because both games feature Marth, the original main character. It wouldn't make as much sense to include FE 2. Maybe it would; don't FE 1-3 all take place on the same world?

But FE2 is a side story, and only has some things that relate to FE1 and FE3. So that's why it was not included. They basically wanted Akaneia and Marth specifically, so you could connect the two games easier. Some even say that FE2 is another universe or something, but I tend not to believe that. It just takes place before FE1, in between FE1 and FE3, or after FE3.

I read somewhere, I think on Nintendo Philes, that FE 1 and 2s stories take place simultaneously, and that FE 2 takes place on a different continent.

That doesn't explain why there are 2 Falchions and 2 sets of Pegasus Sisters... I look at Gaiden more like Zelda Gaiden (Majoras Mask for all those who don't remember prototype names) as having some similar characters but set in an alternate world. The story isn't very well explained. My Geuss is the pegasus sisters can bridge this gap. If I remember the ending Ests was something like: "Est thanked everyone for rescueing her and flew off with her sisters never to seen again"

Why can't there be multiple sets of Pegasus sisters?
