I'm having many problems in the second chapter, mainly keeping that one village where you get the bargain bracelet in one piece! Everytime I get there, the thief takes one last swing and the village is gone. I've tried the chapter 30+ times, but to no avail. I'm never quick enough. I always conquer heihrein (sp?) with four more hits left for the village, but it seems Levin isn't quick enough to get to the village. Maily because the dancer can't move as many spaces as him through the thick forest. Does anybody have any advice/tips for this chapter, or is the bargain ring just not worth it?

I never actually got the Bargain Ring,I usually turn out fine...you don't really need it anyway, since the only major use for it is for Holy Weapons, and you get those later so unless you abuse them you won't really need it. Not sure for any tips to get there, though.

It's not really important at all.
If you really want to get it, then you need to speed through the level faster. This may be obvious, but your mounted units need to be going esssentially their max movement towards the castles about every turn. Your slower foot units can mop up the weakened enemies. Just play aggressively and go as quick as you can (without being stupid and leaving a weakened character inside five enemies' attack ranges, that is).

I could not for the life of me manage it in my first playthrough. But my second run through the game, I didn't have too much trouble with it.
So, if it's your first time, just keep going. You're still okay without it. And when (if) you play the game again, you'll enter battle with a better idea of how the chapter works, which makes it easier to get a good strategy in place. ^^

In my quest to beat this entire game perfectly without resetting once, I did find a way to save all 3 knights and save the bargain ring (without losing a single guy) with 100% success rate. Saving the knights is a bit confusing, but it really isn't that hard if you reset so I won't go into detail.
The bargain ring can be a bit hard, but it's mainly just a frontal rush. You can't wait for any of your foot soldiers, this entire chapter is mostly for your mounted characters. Be sure to give Ethlin the better heal staff. Just go maximum distance with the mounted characters. The two turns where you need to stop are when you're saving Lachesis, and when you're mounting an offensive on the armored and ballistas. You need to stop for a turn at Lachesis so your units won't die. You need to stop at the armored to pull them out. Pull them out with your strongest armored/damage unit, which is probably Lex with hero axe and Cuan with silver spear. Doing so actually lets you pass this area faster, because then you can kill most of the armored and ballistas in 1 turn and keep on rushing at full speed.
You should only stop for 1 turn at Lachesis and the armored/ballistas. If it takes 2 turns on one of them, you just have to keep resetting when Levin reaches the village until he criticals or double attacks so he kills the village raider in 1 turn. The dancer can only give Levin a 1 square lead, although that 1 square is what lets him come barely in time.
Bargain ring is very handy for Edin and her daughter, but if this is your first time at the game I suggest just skipping it also.

I say skip it and let shannan get it when he kills the darkmage boss on chapter 7 since he has a holy weapon anyway.

Ah, now it's explained why I couldn't ever get the bargain ring in the 1st gen.

yea... i never actually had a problem with getting that, but thats okay. I pretty much did what everyone else said, push forward with your horseback people and just have the foot people clean up whats left. but, what i do that makes it easier is that i don't stop with sigurd and cuan. they just continued one throughout the level.
