Wow, FE3 was easy if you ask me, maybe I am just teh suck right now? Maybe it just seems harder because the levels are so long. But, unlike Monshou no Nazo, you have elite units in your hands, like Ayra and Levin.

This game is extremely hard if you're only allowing yourself to save every chapter. The biggest thing that makes this game easier than the others is that you can save after every turn. I guess this only matters on the cart version though.
I've played FE3~5 and FE5 is by far the hardest. FE3 is actually easier for me than FE4 simply because there's a lot of stupid characters that I'd rather have dead in FE3. Since there's a limit to how many characters can be in a stage, I find FE3 a lot more enjoyable when I play it with some type of theme and use the rest as bait when things can be a little tough. For every map I always had 1 'dead guy' unit that's there just to pull the sniper/hero that can randomly crit you and stuff like that.
On FE4, there's not as many units so I can't really do that. FE3 is harder to beat perfectly, but it wasn't as hard as beating FE4 perfectly while saving only after every chapter.

This game won't be so easy if you play as the replacements. Try playing as the replacements, then tell me if this is the second easiest Fire Emblem. Still the second easiest.... You still get the likes of Shannan, Celice, Althenna, Leif, Finn and also Hawk is still a pretty powerful unit he only pales to Sety because Sety is already a god by FE standards. The substitutes also get alot of cool stuff like rings and so on the normal characters can't. Besides the main reason I labelled it like that is that save feature, being able to save before every turn and go back is something that was never in any of the other games.

*Looks at difficulty lists* Yeah Ignorance is bliss. What I'm talking about is does ANYONE try hard mode? I like the way things are changed in Fe7s Hard mode like Lloyd charging towards you, Ursula actively moving round to try and kill units and bosses with upgraded equipment. Nobody seems to take ranks into account, any Fire emblem game is a breeze if you have half an army of 20/20 units charging round the place on chapter 12 after lots of hourleveling (I know the term is power leveling but its a play-on-words). NB: You might need half a brain to go with the 20/20 units. They will still have weaknesses.
Note: Fire Emblems 1-3 have no ranks so they exempt from this challenge table:
The Easiest is Fe4 (save every turn) however, if you score one defeat you can throw an A rank away. Restart the whole game (or use the multiple files to copy a backup save). Also you get a nice extra screen added to the ending as well as alternate music. It is also easy as very few enemies will randomly critical.
The Fire Emblem 6 okay, there is some luck but most units can be destroyed by Iron weapons. Hard mode iv'e yet to try properly but its harder than fe4 and easier then our next one.
Fire Emblem 7, try getting 5 stars for Everything on Lyns game. Whats that you can't bear NOT to use the Angelic Robe AND Power ring?(and if memory serves me right, the Knights crest on Hard) The problem multiplies itself on Eliwood and Hector Normal. As for their hard games ... it looks to be very difficult indeed. Fund and tactics are very, very tight now.
And Finally, Fire Emblem 5. Is the SSS rank possible with (or without) elite mode? Speed doesn't get any tighter than this. Iv'e never heard of anyone being able to pull this off. Still, it opens your eyes to many of the details on the maps.

Fire Emblem 7, try getting 5 stars for Everything on Lyns game. /me Dark Twilkitri raises his hand. Done, for LynNorm and LynHard. Got S on LynHard on my first go at it, too (took me three for LynNorm, though... how embarrassing ). Heh, in my last two playthroughs of the main game I didn't use any of the stat-up items. Not using the two/three from Lyn's game is small change. My current game I'm going for supports, not scores, though, so I'm going to use them... but I'm saving them for the last level. [edit]And that last sentence is referring to the main game, not Lyn's game, so no being stupid and going 'you can't get supports in Lyn's game'.[/edit] As if they're not tight enough already? I got assets of 800 thousand plus on my last playthrough of EliNorm and I still didn't max out on funds! RAR. Talking about difficulty comparisons, around where on that list would FE7 on Hard Mode slot in ?

Talking about difficulty comparisons, around where on that list would FE7 on Hard Mode slot in ? Meh,the enemies all have slightly boosted stats, maybe extra units, but the major part is that there is a bigger Exp-gain gap when gaining levels. I have Hector promoted at level 16 in Eliwood hard mode and him killing an unpromoted unit usually nets him 2-5 experience. It is still quite easy though, despite all of the negative experience. This kind of weighs down on my strategy of using characters,I only choose 6-8 characters to be all-powerful in every FE. Hard mode in Eliwood's/Hector's route makes it REALLY hard to get the Exp rank high.
