I just started this game and well... I either suck or this FE is a lot harder than most. I am on the second chapter and already lost Dew, Adaen, and Maydale. Is it possible to go on without them? If it isn't does anyone have any tips for the beginning chapters of this game?

Second chapter as in the real second chapter, or did you count the prologue? (It's a common mistake, so it'd be easier to give you help if we know exactly what's going on.)
It's possible, but it might not be pleasant. I don't use Deu much (although he has amazing potential if you're willing to work for it), but Edin is good to have around at least until you get Claude, since Ethlinn and Lachesis don't have the sheer magical power she does. And Mideel has his uses, for all the bashing he gets.
I'd recommend trying again until you can get through with them intact. To give more specific help, I'd need to know exactly what's giving you trouble.

I guess I am in the prologue, I just can't seem to get adaen and deu to safety! They get sanwiched between the soldiers and Ayra and she attacks like 4 times on Adaen!!!

Okays. Here's what you need to do. RUN. Take Deu and plop his ass in the town. That'll give him a hefty defense and evasion boost, so he'll be fine until you can save him. For Edin, do NOT try to join your main forces. Just stick her in the middle of the first forest she comes across and STAY there until you've conquered the castle. Also, since you seem to be a n00b, DO NOT KILL AYRA. Conquer the castle WITHOUT killing her and then talk to her with Sigurd. She is absolutely invaluable.

Success! Thank you both, I have Ayra and have lost no one! Now I just have to some how beat the game and I'm sure it only gets harder...

Make sure you talk to Jamuka with Edin as well. You don't want to miss out on another powerhouse. =P

Yep. I suggest starting the chapter over if you killed him. Trust me. He's worth it, if only for the Killer Bow he starts with. <3

I actually think that FE4 is second easiest after FE7. Hell, you can repair your weapons, revive your dead, and create pretty much death-on-a-stick characters for the second gen.
Yes, certain chapters of FE6 kicked my ass. I am lame.

I think its more or less agreed upon that in order of difficulty this is how the FE game rank...

This game won't be so easy if you play as the replacements. Try playing as the replacements, then tell me if this is the second easiest Fire Emblem.

Wow, FE3 was easy if you ask me, maybe I am just teh suck right now? Maybe it just seems harder because the levels are so long.
