Yes, DBZ was intended to end after the Furiza battle with Gokou's 'death.' But due to the popularity they then conjured up the Android and Cell Saga to carry on from the Red Ribbon saga from Dragonball. Eventually though Akira Toriyama decided to return to his original origins of what made DB so popular he gave the Majin Buu Saga the same charm and silly humour that the earlier DBZ lacked and had much less focus on fighting and training as before.
Garlic Jr. Saga as most people say never existed since it was tied in to the 1st movie where most people don't count the movies as part of the proper timeline.
Plus probably the best thing about manga opposed to the anime, the manga is shorter and also had consistant quality and only improving unlike DBZ anime which was actually done by 3 separate factions which explains why the artwork seems to change so frequently.

Actually, 3 of the movies actually took place...
Movie 1 with Garlic Jr. for obvious reasons...
Movie 5 with Cooler... I don't know why
Movie 13 with Tapion & Hildegarn... it explains where Trunks got his sword... even though the timeline kinda doesn't match up with Future Trunks'... eh, maybe it's just me...

SOME gundam manga is really good, like sentinel and G-unit. its just when they try to make too many "battles" which mostly involve "DU DU DU" "DO DO DO DO" "BINK!" (other japanese onomatopoeic words)
and some lines.

dude... arguing over dbz or sm is not the right way to appreciate anime...
i'll say that you start off with good stuff like cowboy bebop or trigun, then move on to love hina and hand maid, then maybe you could reach the pinnacle with naruto and last exile
and maybe jungle wa no guu or kimi ga nozumu ein

First of all, this argument has been dead for two months, so why did you feel the need to post here in the first place?
Let people like what they like. I like plenty of "good anime," and I also happen to like Sailor Moon, which was in fact pretty damned good in the original version. Nine out of ten SM bashers I've met are only familiar with the dub.
Last Exile is good. But I think Trigun kicks its ass.
Not all dubs suck. Trigun was very well dubbed. Dragon Half is better in the dub than the sub. I prefer subs myself, but that's no excuse for saying that dubs are crap. And guess what? Cowboy Bebop, which is on your "good list," got dubbed too, and I think they took out a couple things when they aired in on TV.
Get the hell over yourself. You're being an elitist jerk.

Ack... why DID this thread get brought up again? Well, since it's here... anybody see the "music video" for the U.S. DBGT theme? My Lord... that had to be one of the most terrible things I've seen in my life  ;; (it was an extra in one of the DVDs). FUNimation just couldn't translate Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku could they...? Instead, they got a really crappy theme song -_- Thank God Toonami doesn't show that intro... I'd miss the beginning of the episode because I'm throwing up =( |
