I preferred just to mention the ones that could be controlled, even if I didn't say so. They were only examples, anyway.

Those staff users are spellcasters, but not mages. Remember the classical definition, that comes from FE1 and lasts to this day: mages use offensive spells. Priests/sisters use staves. So, the Trobadour and the Princess would be sort of fighter/priests.

The mages in FE1 promoted to Bishops (Shisai), as well as the Sisters (shisutaa)/Priests (souryo).

Am I the only one who thinks the purple haired girl looks like Silk from FEG? It seems they like to draw their inspiration from FEG nowadays. Serra looks like May from FEG.

About characters, I think Senerio is a mage because of the Fire spell, the standard book (okay Canas and Lucius have a book too, but it's often a mage who carrying a book on his artwork like Nino, Pent, Lilina, Lugh), the typical cape on the battle sprite.
The most strange character is for Mist if she's really the girl with the apple basket, what kind of class she could be if she's a playable character.

c mon senerio jes hasta be a shaman. U mite think he cast the fire spell....but that din look like battle animation so how do u know it wasn't something else? like the enemy using an item?

Hum good point for you, but it's more logical that it's Senerio who attacks in the picture....
The triangle-position of the three guards shows they have finished their turn, or the guy who controls Senerio is really stupid. The Hps of the guard are 9, and the logic wants the guard attacks Senerio until he hasn't got his full Hp (stupid IA). The distance is good for a fire casting. And remember, you can disable the battle animation.
