This game, being my first Fire Emblem, really hates me. I am stuck at Chapter 27. I am using Eliwood as a LV 14 Lord, Nino a LV 10 Mage, Lyn a LV 3 Blade Lord, Hector a LV 1 Great Lord, Priscilla a LV 19 Troubador, Matthew a LV 14 Thief, Fiora a LV 15 Peg Knight, Heath a LV 19 Dragon Rider (I think that sounds better), Ninian at LV 12, Guy a LV 13 Myrmidon, Erk a LV 7 Sage, Kent a LV 15 Cavalier, Raven a LV 16 Mercenary, Canas a LV 13 Shaman, and Rath a LV 12 Nomad. I hope to promote Guy, Fiora, and Heath by the end of the chapter.

Beating the level. Hector can clean up most of the Knights and Generals. It's the other units I have trouble with, especially the Ballistas. I want to get Priscilla promoted as well.

Yeah, I know, I pretty much suck on my first play through. Maybe it's because I refuse to use all the characters you get already promoted like Jaffar, Pent, Louise, and Hawkeye. They are really good characters and all, but I feel they make the game too easy. And most of my units should be promoted by the end of this level. Especially Heath and Fiora.

So in other words, I'm screwed? I could take out Ninian and put Lucius in to add some extra strength I guess.

No, you're not screwed. You've got a pretty good team, and really, I've beaten the game with nothing but crappy characters (like Marcus), so it's definitely not impossible.
Unfortunately, I forget what level chapter 27 is. >_< Can you give me a description of it?

I actually have to say all your units are seriously underleveled and more should be promoted really by then.
Even playing to time limit its very easy to get at least 5 units promoted by then besides the Lords.

It's the one where you have kill off Linus and reinforcements keep coming until like the 25th turn.

Ah. Well, I took the left path, and split into two groups from there who spread out to the left and right paths and cleaned things up. Then, leaving a few units behind to make sure I don't get snuck up on by reinforcements, I took on Linus. He won't move until you attack him first. But he DOES move from his spot.
Well, actually, I took on Lloyd, but Linus should be easier to hit, I would think. Not sure what his equipment is but it shouldn't matter too too much.
If you don't want to split your units, take them all up the far left side (making sure to nab that Guiding Ring on the way) and deal with the reinforcements on the side in your own time. That way, you can send your best guys into Linus and hopefully deal with him while the rest of your characters fend off the reinforcements.

basically i sent guy and lyn over to the left side
I used hector, oswin and raven to clean up the generals and armor knights.
supported them with archers and magic users for ranged attacks.

I do think a lot of his characters are not leveled up enough, but with some skillful plainning you should be able to get past this stage. I don't know but I've never had any trouble with the ballistas in this chapter. They might get a hit or 2 and then I just rush in and kill them. Next time you play you should plan ahead and focus on some characters and ignore the others. Ninian at level 12 is crazy. Level 7 or so is good enough even if you're playing the hard mode.

I sent Heath or Florina equipped with a Delphi Charm west to shop, visit the village, deal with the Myrmidons and ballistas....
Hector and Eliwood went directly north, dealt with a couple of Social Knights and Nomads, then headed back south to recruit Vaida and kill the Dragon Knights.
Nino went into the Armored Knights first and had a blast, mainly because she's so fucking fast and they're all slow... then sent her west to deal with some Heroes and Mercs.... she got great levels.... everyone else went through the middle (led by Lyn and Rath) to deal with the rest of the armored knights, generals, Paladins and everything else they throw at you.
And I remembered to steal the Orb and the Guardian Ring. :P
