Um I believe its a Poleaxe not a Halberd...
Halberd has advantage on horseback units.

I'm pretty sure the Poleaxe has the advantage over horseback. Anyway, a strong mercenary (99% of it being Galzus) does appear on chapter 5 if Evale kills enough units. He comes with a few crappy mercs. The only reason he didn't make complete mincemeat of her is he tries to capture her (to take he near Leidrick+Beldo). I can confrim this strong mercenary with a freiend. We reackon its Galzus. He remembers seeing it on his sisters game.
As for Gamersaras Galzus capturing itl'l be interesting to see if hes alive later on... The fact he says nothing (does his face show up?) might be because it was supposed to be impossible. Btw, how did the Beldo killing go (or was it impossible)?

that Beldo killing is possible technically.....but then Nana will have to die so i didn't do that... or maybe it's impossible(does he leave if Eyval is killed?) well i got 2 long-range fire spell by chapter 5 and that's 10 attacks, one pure water, level 15 Asvel with 15 Magic power.......

I never bother checking the random stats thing but I have heard about it. I've play chapter 5 many times though and I never had the general with more movement. Oh well I might as well go back and keep reseting the game then.

your character need to have a higher build(or mounted) than the enemy's(you can't capture mounted enemy), then when you attack there is the capture option under the normal attack option(NOTE when you use capture the damaged dealed is much lower than the normal attacking damage)
BTW you can't kill those two in chap 5, it's IMPOSSIBLE, they will dodge every attack...(i think the main reason for the 99% hit limit is for the plot...)

Your stats are halved when you capture...

Yes it's true, capturing cuts all of your stats in half. If you want to capture an enemy, using a Killer,Master,or Hero weapon is your best bet.

There are some characters that cannot be killed like Owen and Fred in chpater... 12 was it? I cheated with 20 on all stats and 99 luck Othin and he couldn't hit either of them. If he lands the hit, Fred and Owen dies.

Yeah, but the best part about not being able to kill a character is Sera in chapter 16B. It's the best way to get your weapon level up.
