Hey. I don't think there is any disadvantage, besides having a harder time eliminating an enemy, and lowered stats while holding someone captive.
Do you mean the maximum limits for the two stats? If so, it's 80 HP and 20 Build.

There's nothing wrong with capturing. Just remember your stats goes down by 50% when you try to capture and also when you're holding someone. Build does grow in this game unlike FE6 and 7 where it only goes up during class change.

^ What TF said, its vital you remember that your stats are halved when you attempt capture. Sometimes you can easily get killed trying to attempt capture so its best saved for only weak units and also units with absolute MUST get items.

Its should also be noted that capturing is a very good source of money. Not that theres very much to buy. Shops the sell the lightening Spell (its light magic, geddit) or Stamina bags are very, very rare. But they are useful. Your relying on careful managment of personal weapons, powerful weapons and character balance to survive. Capturing is part of this balance. *Important*Unarmed people are AUTOMATICALLY captured. So keep healers safe so the enemy doesn't walk off with them (and theif staffs!)*Important*
Staffs that cause status effects are pretty much the rarest of all things enemies will be holding. Magic is quite uncommon (especilly Blizard which turns up near then end. Just steal it using a theif staff, not only is Blizard long range it puts people to sleep!)
Oh, how could a forget this. Capturing isn't the only way of getting weapons. Theifs can perform a task called stealing but only if they are faster that whos pocketsa they are trying to pick. What thiefs can steal is limited by their bulid (the can't grab anything heavier than their bulid). And the theif staff has a similar rule/limit. *Important*Enemies can also steal*Important*

Thanks for all the help Leaf is the weakest of the army right now(4 level up, 1 stat go up the first two times...)guess i should save and reload next time that happens...
anyway one more question, the repair staff with 5 uses is all you ever get, right? what are the weapon's stat after it's broken?

Nothing, and unlike FE4 the only way to repair stuff is to use the Repair Staff. Save it for only the Hero weapons, personal weapons, and other weapons you can't buy but are REALLY good, and try not to overuse those weapons so the Repair Staff doesn't break early in the game.(Hell,I had 2 uses left in Chapter 24)
About capturing: Remember when you're trying to capture the enemy, all of your stats(except Luck,BLD and HP)go down by half. When posessing a captured enemy,it goes the same way. When possessing a captured enemy when their BLD is about 4/5 or more of your total BLD,your movement will be cut in half, even when mounted. Remember, you cannot hold units with a BLD of 20,not even your own,nor can you steal anything with a weight of 20.
Other notes: Capturing all the enemies results in high risk, not to mention wasting alot of time. Only do so when you have to,such as if you need extra equipment or if they have a good item.

My advice for capturing is use the "Hero" weapons. They allow you to attack twice no matter what.
WAIT WAIT!!! Did you get the 2 axes in the very first stage? You get 2 excellent axes in the very first stage. Send Othin to the house outside the village walls and Halvan to the right house to get his axe.
