The thing is I hate M rated games which have nothing new to offer example being GTA3 its just random killing what M rated game doesn't have that?
Now Conkers Bad Fur Day, Perfect Dark and Silent Hill 2 are games which deserve their M rating for pure play value and don't solely rely on mindless violence but add other stuff in.

You know there are these things called missions. They add point to the killing. My erm... "borrowowed" version couldn't get saves working so I couldn't play the missions. But they seemed more, decapitate this person orinated. GTA2 was the best GTA if you asked me. Multiplayer was fun, the way the factions interaacted was good. Each level just pick a faction beat all their missions, done. And you can do it again for different factions. Don't shout at me i'm comparing like wityh like. Its like say fe is mindless killing after playing trial maps.

The essence of that game is still violent, mindless killing.

I agree... GTA2 was the best one ^_^
What also bothers me about many people (also many kids) is that they only care about graphics. I'd rather play a game with terrible graphics that's fun, rather than play a game with excellent graphics that's boring. I mean... graphics sometimes help, but they don't say anything about a game's worth. The original GB Pocket Monster games (better known as Pokemon elsewhere) had like... NES graphics, and it became a phenomenon worldwide, even with 32, 64, and above bit systems in the market.
Well, at least they invented a system for people who only care about graphics... it's called X-Box! (And I'm sorry if that offends anyone, but I'm just joking...)

X-Box is a really great system with amazingly crappy games, so far.

Xbox is getting DDR Ultramix. So far, that's one of the only things that makes me jealous of Xbox owners. I also wouldn't mind giving Panzer Dragoon Orta and Knights of the Old Republic a whirl...but I've seen very little on Xbox that interests me, thus far.

Halo is incredibly overhyped....
Everytime those X-Box junkies try putting down other systems and I ask them to name some games worth buying X-Box for....and its always Halo than just ask them another and its Halo 2 and go anything else and they're like...."............"
I've played it, its a excellent first person shooter and multiplayer but it has little that hasn't been already done by most other shooters.
And I was okay with the early GTA's but theres no arguing when it comes down it is just senseless violence which is only good for a cheap first laugh than just gets boring.

My friend likes Halo a lot... but he plays it on PC. There are only a few good-looking exclusives on there, including Mechwarrior, KOTOR... well, I think there might've been more, but I dunno...
Oh well... Mechwarrior's controls sucked on X-Box, and Rebel Strike: Rogue Squadron III is probably a billion times better than KOTOR!

Ack... I'm almost 21 and don't have one M rated game. I've played plenty of M rated games. Heck I used to enjoy Mortal Kombat 2 a lot. Kids today are stupid. When I have children I'm gonna force them to play Donkey Kong and Mario first.
BTW if you want a M rated game get Eternal Darkness on GC, awesome awesome game.

MK2 was rated M? Didn't they have a different rating system back then, like K-A and stuff like that? Well, in any case, I also enjoyed MK2 a lot... ninja-Reptile all the way ^_^
That's a good idea to have your kids play classic games... for if we do not educate the youth about the classics, they may very well vanish with our generations...

And I was okay with the early GTA's but theres no arguing when it comes down it is just senseless violence which is only good for a cheap first laugh than just gets boring. Hey. Actually, I can argue against that. I just beat Grand Theft Auto III tonight, and it isn't all senseless. Most (if not all) the killing, that's worth anything, comes from doing missions for local gangs and the Mafia. So technically, it isn't senseless, and I personally don't find it boring. Sure, you can kill just about anyone, anytime, but that's optional. The real focus of the game is to complete missions (as we all know). A lot of missions are insanely hard, and may have you working on them for days...not to mention the fact that you can do anything you want after you're "finished" with the game. Heck, you could do anything once you've gotten to Shoreside Vale, and that's not too far into it. Anyway, I consider myself extremely "old-school", but some things I just can't stand to play for long. For example, I love to play "old" games from the NES, Genesis, and SNES. But, unlike my older brother, I can't stand to play games like Pong for longer than a few minutes. It's just too "low tech" and simple for me to handle. Besides, playing Pong for too long would probably cause you to go nuts, considering it's a repetitive thing for hours on end (no offense to Pong, I have nothing against it). ;D Also, on the subject of "M" rated games, I really don't see why they're viewed as bad by a lot of people. Personally, I think the ESRB consists of a bunch of over-concerned moms (who probably don't like video games of any sort anyway). I own a ton of these "M" rated games, including things like: Max Payne 2, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2, SOCOM: US Navy SEALs, and Resident Evil 3...and that's just a few. They really don't have anything that would shock people, just some pathetic animated blood and gore, some "harsh" language, and maybe a "suggestive theme" or two. Really, these are nothing compared to T.V. shows and movies, and I personally think that nobody can be influenced by something on a T.V. or theater screen anyway. So if a person commits a crime or something, and they blame it on one of those three things (T.V., movies, and video games), they are lying. Deep down in their mind, they obviously harbored some plan or fantasy to do what they did, they just wanted something to blame it on...all to make themselves look more innocent in the law's eyes. Remember, this is all just my opinion, and we're free to believe what we want.

The point is, the essence of the game is violent killing. Take that part away, and then GTA is just another game. Like...Metal Gear or Tenchu, or games like that.
EDIT: WTF, Resident Evil, Metal Gears, and Splinter Cell are M-rated? Okay, just which of games aren't M-rated?
