Do marth and Roy live in the same timeline or they are totally different timelines? they could be on different continents but since i.e. those Smash brother game has both of them i am assuming they are somewhat related?

They have the same class(but Roy can class change), and that's it. The chances of Marth and Roy living in the same world, at the same time, even if in different continents are very small(FE1 Dragons get old like everyone else, FE6 Dragons get old VERY slowly)

I still refuse to believe the world is made up of just one continent. My theory has always been "every Fire Emblem takes place on the same planet." Look at the map of Elibe, you'll notice it shows the entire continent but not the entire land mass. The upper right hand corner is connected to something. There's more to it than that.

It's possible that it's the same Timeline, because of the similar way of life, but in FE6 Marth can be 40 years old, or younger like Roy, or already dead, we don't know.....
But the strange thing if they are at the same world, so there is one holy weapon per continent.... (Falchion, Sword of Seals, etc.....)

Each continent could have their own species of dragons and thus different kinds of holy weapons were needed to defeat them.

The Falchion looks a lot like the Tyrfing. That could mean something. And I've always believed that FE all happens on the same planet, but on different, secluded continents.

I still think there's no proof that that's true. And I'll only change my view when(if) Nintendo releases a Fire Emblem linking the various games (like Bandai did with the alternate universes of Gundam with Turn-A Gundam)...
While its clear that there are other continents in the planet, I don't think the other continents need to have a FE happening in them.

Besides I don't think the script writers and producers really actually cared much for whether everything was connected. If they wanted it to be they'd release something that shows it. Also if you make a sequel the first is bound to influence how you think.

I know I know, it's not really meant to be connected, but they never said you CAN'T connect them. It's just something fun for fans to argue/wonder about. That's why we have Fire Emblem discussions because of all the things they left out for us to wonder about.

If there are no story debates about a game...then the developers are not doing their job.

Exactly, just try and piece Zelda's timeline together and you'll know what I mean.

Piecing this games together in a timeline is also like trying to connect the final fantasy together. well, except that fft and ff7 is linked and ffx and ffx2 is linked.

You guys do know that Jake the ballista driver from the first Fire Emblem makes a cameo in FE4 right? They goota be on the same planet or else Jake wasn't just a ballista driver, he was a pilot of some space ship. Or maybe his ballista thingy can transform into a space ship!!! Yeah yeah!!!! Jake was an alien!
