By the way, it wouldn't hurt if you stopped ironizing my open preference for FE4 every now and often. Thanks in advance. This time, I wasn't ironizing it. It's just that... FE4 is your prefered Fire Emblem, right? It came out after FE3. You stated that FE3 had primitive mechanichs. Therefore what made you like FE4, and not FE3, were the innovations of FE4. So, innovations, sometimes, are good things. Yes, I know that FE4's innovations weren't related to new races. But they were innovations, even if only in mechanichs. And not only mechanichs... Akanea and its world got completely dropped out of the story. The Pegasus sisters, the Falchion, and Garnef are nowhere to be seem. The fact that FE4 is your base doesn't affect the fact that it came out after FE3 and the fact that what made you enjoy it were its innovations.

But it affects my judgement. I'm free to judge the father taking his son as parameter, even though those who knew the father beforehandedly wouldn't see it as right.
Innovations may be good, sometimes? Yes, of course. FE4 is, truly, an example of a happy ending (for most, at least). But, in a reasonable number of times, they aren't. That's even truer about longer series. Take Final Fantasy as example. FF6 and FF7 are rightfully said as the best of the series - even though we already had FF8, 9, 10, 10-2... after them. We had an evolution until FF6/7, then the quality dropped. As time passes, good ideas tend to be used, and bad ones may have a chance.
It's not too unwise to be cautious about changes. After all, if one is too excited about them, he may be frustrated.
But... darn, I'm not saying the mechanics suck. Yet. (However, I saw it. The old FE3 divided inventory, with separated slots to items and weapons. I don't like that. Less space for weapons.)
Even though Jungdral and Akanea are different (be them of the same world or not), there are similarities. After all, it's as you said: FE4's gods are random mamkutes... in both, we have the same main races, even though one is absent. And I'm complaining about a non-serious race they're putting in Souen no Kiseki. That's about it. It'd be unwise to complain about anything else, as I don't know enough details.
By the way. Even though The Pegasus Sisters (Paola/Cachua/Est - is that it?) are absent, there is a trio of pegasus sisters - but under Ishtar's command, in the very end of the game (enemies). So, only FE5 doesn't have pegasus sisters. But I admit that's another FE tradition. Such traditions that give the games a feel that they're of the same series. Right, it isn't Akanea. But, didn't you remember of Maric when you saw Levin, Sety or Asvel, all-powerful wind-using mages? Or of Navvare, with the swordmaster class? The blue-haired lord? The two knights, one red and another green? The weak pre-promoted paladin?
I have doubts about the understandability all this, but meh.
Summing up, I see a rupture of traditions. Although it may not be negative, it seems so to me. I feel it, as I also have the impression that the catfolk may be in the place of the mamkutes.

------- Can't we agree on anything? Eh... I guess I just have weird preferences... IMO the best Final Fantasy was FF5, after that, began the downfall.
---- By the way. Even though The Pegasus Sisters (Paola/Cachua/Est - is that it?) are absent, there is a trio of pegasus sisters - but under Ishtar's command, in the very end of the game (enemies) ----
I prefer the spelling "Katua" instead of "Cachua". But that's it.
The change that I was talking about is that Paola/Katua/Est had been in EVERY(yes, 1/2/3) Fire Emblem. Same goes for the Falchion and Garnef.
-------- . So, only FE5 doesn't have pegasus sisters. But I admit that's another FE tradition. Such traditions that give the games a feel that they're of the same series. Right, it isn't Akanea. Ok. Ok. You're right about this... but I was talking about specific charachters, not just tributes/references. Specific charachters who had been in every Fire Emblem.

I never played FF4. Those NES-like graphics scared me. (Yes, I have absolutely no respect for NES graphics. I was raised with Master System.)
Thanks. =)

I've only said this about 23,192,392 and a half times, but FF6 is my second favourite game of all time, right behind NHL '94. And Cyan Garamonde is my favourite character of all time, right ahead of Hector. Though Square must have been running out of name ideas to name someone as formal as Cyan after a bright blueish colour.

Well, the Engrish on my Japanese FF6 soundtrack calls him Cayenne, which isn't much better. (Mmm...pepper...)

well heres what I think they should do for classes in this game. first they should make more than one class that each class can promote to. what I mean is that, when you promote, you can choose between two different promoted classes to become.

also I think they should give each character different attacks. not like magic, but like, ay know how each character has a different attack animation? well I think each of the same class should be able to learn different attack animations (called skills) that have different ups and downs. like one way to slash a sword is quiker but does less damage, another does allot of damamge but ahs poor aim. that'll add to the strategy so you can choose the right move for the right situation. you could start out with only 1 skill, then learn more as you rise through the levels.

Different weapons already have the same effect(well, not in the battle animations, but statwise). Also, the name "skill" has already been used for a completely different system element that was used in FE4 and 5. So, it couldn't be used for this.
Also, different animations for everyone would limit the number of charachters.
BUT I could see the main charachter having a different animation for each weapon(like FE1 Marth).
