what about ALex or Alick? Wrong. The katakana is A i ku. So, it can be Aik, Aic, Aick, Ik, Ic, Ike... but never Alex/Alick.

Tiamat looks a woman to me. But we can never be too sure... Yes but it's just the armor I said, and the name "Tiamat" remind me a character with this name who was a guy, but sure she's a girl, it's just a bad impression of mine.

I think Aick/Ike/Simon(?)s archer thingny is just pointless decoration designed by an inexperianced artist who was unaware of the confusion it would cause us fire emblem elites.
Still if he can use bows he can join the list with Alm and Lyn (after promotion) and Homles (Base class)* Theres always the possibility its just an uncommon weapon for lords to use not an altogether rare one.
*-Tear Ring Saga would have been another Fire Emblem if Nintendo didn't have their way. Shouzou Kaga designed a game that fooled many into thinking it was a fire emblem. Pegasus knight and fireemblem.net cary info on the game. Homles is probably the only pure archer lord we will have for a while (though he could use swords once promoted).

So, it can be Aik, Aic, Aick, Ik, Ic, Ike... And the official word is Ike, it seems. So now there can be no more controversy.

Of course it didn't. However, I was too lazy to look for a right mythological reference. Don't kill me. I just looked for an example. Usually, these references to a mythos tend to keep the gender unchanged. Well, maybe not. Bleh. You know, not always official namings are preferred. After all, Ayra's official name is Ira. Levin's is Levn. Now tell me, how many people in these boards use them? =P So, even though there may already have an official naming, all those variations are not necessarily wrong.

As a matter of fact, I use Ira.
TZ used all of the official names, but he quit.
I wasn't saying that the other possibilities were wrong, but they are... less right... In any case, I don't see any reason why anyone would want to use spellings like Aik, anyway. They just seem... wrong...

I'm sorry, but as long as "official" spelling give us bullshit like "Siglud," I'm always going to take them with a grain of salt. XP

www.nintendo.co.jp/n08/ae7j/sinsaku/index.htmlOfficial site, official spellings. I do prefer Ike anyway, because Aik, Aike, Eyck, etc. sound odd. =P But... I'm not always keen on official spellings either... Rath was Ruth for a while. =P
