I loved the original Final Fantasy Tactics half to death, and have been really anticipating this new one (another game to add to my tiny GBA collection, w00t), but the story... is starting to worry me. It's so... childish. A storybook? Cute little Moggles running around as if they were bunny-rabbits? Judges that can throw players into jail for disobeying the rules on the field?? Maybe I just need to play it to understand it all, but... come on, folks, where's the complex storyline? Where's the demonic evil beings that intend to destroy everything mankind stands for? Where's the blood-spray??
Meh, so anyways, are you going to buy it eventually?

I would like to. However, I must consider other things before spending the money, such as A) money for food comes before money for games, B) money for laundry also comes before money for games (two dollars a load, what the hell is this?), and C) money for Dynasty Warriors 4: Xtreme Legends comes before money for FFT:A.
So, in short, I am praying for Christmas.

lol, I understand your situation all too well. Over here at the CIA (Culinary Institute, come on!), it's $1 to dry and $1 to wash, and they only feed you two meals a day for FIVE days a week. It's a cooking college, for god sakes!! Argh... hopefully if I find a job, though, it'll alleviate some of the stress and I'm divvying up the money as follows:
$75 - Loan $30 - FFT:A $20 - Extra Cash Whatever's left - My family, they need all the cash they can get so they can pay for my college! ^_^;;;;

The weakness of plot is bothering me, too. I kinda liked the old kind of moogle, actually...and the characters in this game aren't nearly as neat as I had hoped.

Don't be so hard on the game. The character designs look great, the gameplay looks fun, and the moogles look cute and fuzzy. Besides, remember in Secret of Mana when those monsters transform you into a moogle. Let's just say I'm not too interested in playing as the weak things again.

I was thinking of picking up a GBA for this. My friend got an SP a while back and is selling me his GBA for $30. But if get the GBA, FFTA, and FE7, I can't get Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, or F-Zero GX, or Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, or Custom Robo, or the rest of the awesome games coming out soon. (BTW, I'm only get two of the GCN games listed if I don't get the GBA).
Well, I can make anotehr exception of GBA Roms...

From a quick play it seems to be a simpeler tactics ogre. Which means I don't like it. Tactics ogre is way too slow. You seem to spend more time equiping characters or hassleing over which way they face then you do battle. In FFT the judges just seemed to be a cinical way to stop you from overusing certain stratagies. You lot are all lucky as you have all the time in the world to beat games, so the snails pace of FFT and TO are no problem but for me I prefer faster stratagy games like Fire Emblem or Front mission. In fe6 and 7 with just map animations you can cruse though the enemy phase. While FFT is s.e.l.e.c.t u.n.i.t m.o.v.e u.n.i.t. a.t.t.a.c.k. and so on it just bores me.

The story's kind of TERRIBLE, but they improved overall on the battle system I loved so much in the first FFT. My only real problems with it is that the judges just become OVERWHELMINGLY tough towards the end, and um.... the racial barriers on some classes. Uncool.
Still, it's addictive gameplay-wise, and honestly, I don't see the argument that it's slow or even really less involved than TO. They've picked up the pace a lot from the original FFT here, and the depth of the combat system overall is still pretty impressive.

True enough; they seemed to take a LARGE step backwards in terms of an intuitive equipment interface. I miss the old game, where I could just hit "best fit" in the shops and have the better junk ready.
