Generally I'm more of a Rutger person, he's way more reliable and practical for me.

For starters Rutger comes earlier and I can usually get him promoted by Ch-8G.
Also before promotion I usually have Rutger maxing skill and speed already and getting high strength and def and hp wheras Fil only maxes speed and gets high luck.
Secondly I really have had bad experiences with Fil in the past and her strength where she just has way too low a strength to do significant damage even with her critical.

Fil usually maxes out speed, luck and skill, while Rutger maxes out strength, speed, skill and gets quite high defence and HP.
For me Rutger is much sturdier and reliable, I hate having to rely on luck so much.



I mean look at that 4 hp away from maxing HP and good def for his class, decent luck, maxed in 3 stats with no items and this happens very regularly for me as well.

Then your somehow messing up,mine has always about the same stats,but her luck almost DOUBLES!luck is so imporrant later as i said when speed gets maxed because dodging gets harder later,i hope ure making this descision in the long run from chp 9 to final instead of just chp.9 to watever.And i can promise u my fir's will always ALWAYS beat my rutugers.Karel almost beat rutuger even damnit.

Quite frankly I don't see the point since I never get Fil to lvl. 20/20 anyway....she usually only reaches 20 around Ch-19 which is quite late and 20/7 at the most.

Its not that easy to get people 20/20 when you're playing for A/S rank. Quite frankly I prefer having a early boss killer who becomes a psychotic killer later rather than someone who builds up later before becoming a psychotic killer when you don't really need anymore.

I promoted Fir at the end of chapter 13... that was early enough for me.

What did you do? Abuse the arena or promote her pre-maturely? o.o

Prematurely? Never. :P I used her til chapter 13, and made her gain the rest of her levels in the 13 arena. =P

Ya the arena is useful,but after a few lvls as a swordmaster she can probably get the rest herself,or finish wat u started and own for the rest of the game.Put some more comitment into levelin fir.honestly she's like using raven in fe7 in my opinion.She's best char better than clarine i'd say,clarine was havin dodgin probs in zeiphels lvl.Dealin dmg and hittin is relativly easy,its staying alive for some chars that can be annoying.and after u bring fir to her max lvl when her luck almost doubles rutuger while her other stats are only slightly lower (like 1 point),then u hav the best damn char in this game.Rutuger may end up with better stats(somtimes)but luck he will always suck ass.Even Karel,who comes late in the game and is has lower stats than the 3,has higher luck than rutuger.Fir has no sword equal in fe6 in my opinion.I've had her fight dieck,rutuger,wendy,karel,and sue.And with the exception of sue it was a breeze for her.

My Rut had the exact same stats as Seti's, but mine had 59 hp (no stat boosting items used). He was a swordmaster by level 7 for me.

Er... what? I used her as a myrmidon in the chapter 13 arena for about 9-10 levels then promoted her. I didn't use the arena as a swordmaster. She was 20/16 or so by game's end. =P

you did the swordmaster without arena?i should try that lol,should b easy enough ^_^.in my first game tho i did mymridon 1-20 without arena.Its pretty easy to get 10-15 levels in chp 9 after the pirates start massing from the forts.

u were either really really lucky,used the 2 godess icons in game,.or o course theres the fact that you havnt finished lvlin her,.if hes 28/30 she must b rdy to become 30/30 ^_^.

Now that u mention it,they are oddly maxed,still with luck like that fir has a chance ^_^.Still if u are doing this on a emulator could u send a screen capture?i gotta c those stats i hav lvled rutuger twice so far and his stats make it so i could never even dream of doing that.

Chapter 9's great for levelling. And after I promoted Fir, I let her take care of several bosses and.. quite a few dragon knights. >>; And she also had the Durandal later on. I used one energy ring and I... think a dragon shield on her, and she maxed strength (only 22! Ah well, she does critical a lot...) at about level 15 or 16 or so. I guess she would have maxed it anyway by 20 if I didn't give her an energy ring, oh well. Though the dragonshield was much more needed, especially early on. XD

And 17 luck is awesome before promotion, no goddess icons. She could possibly get 30 luck at 20/20...
