I am glad to see that some new ideas are being implemented in this latest edition of Fire Emblem. The fantasy atmosphere that the art implies is rich and tangible, and I like the direction it appears to be leading. The various animal\people appear to be a new take on the old Mamkute characters, and the artistic style is still very much Fire Emblem in my eyes, in no way polluted by Shining Force with its somewhat bizzarre animals and critters. As always the armour looks entirely useless, but the style and filigree is even more beautiful than before.
My Gamecube is waiting to play this game, and so far I have no qualms with what I see whatsoever. I believe it is staying true to Fire Emblem history, but at the same time breathing some fresh life into it. I'm wondering what everyone else thinks on the matter though.

Despite its distatefulness, I would love even a modern Fire Emblem provided it keeps the charm and...'good'-ness that has made the series so beloved of myself. It's going to be a struggle to accept cat-people, but I guess I'll have to try.

I have never been one that likes changing things; whatever works before will continue to work to me.
Although I agree that the catgirl is something that's going to need to wear on me. Catgirls belong in hentai, not Fire Emblem.

I agree with you Superbus. I can think of many a sequel that was ruined by too much changing(Devil May Cry 2 anyone?). However I dont think Fire Emblem will end up like that. I see some things from past Fire Emblem games, already worked into this game.
As for the Cat Girl.. We'll just see what happens, until then *nibbles on Cat Girls*

I'm surprised a big fan of FE4 would agree with such a statement.

I'm surprised a big fan of FE4 would agree with such a statement. FE4 was the first one I played, so it's my parameter. I consider all the changes toward it, not FE1 or Monshou no Nazo. You shouldn't be surprised.

Well, it's a surprise to me that FE4 was your first FE game, although now I understand your opinion.

Mine was Monshou no Nazo. Fire Emblem has gone through a number of changes throughout the series most noticeable of those was Seisen no Keifu, and Thracia 776. See how well people perceive those games? So it just goes to show that change doesn't always=bad.

Change is good ? Everything I saw which was a changed version were badder than the original..... MarioKartDD, ZeldaWW, SFA, 3D NBA Jam, and others..... So this Catgirl/Lionguy change is a bad thing for my eyes......

Meh. There are bad changes and good changes. The catgirls seem like a bad change. But I think the changes to 3-D and a new continent and storyline will be a definite plus.

There's a difference between evolution (which I believe is a good word to use for what The End is talking about) and throwing a whole bunch of completely different crap at a wall, and seeing what sticks (like, say, Devil May Cry 2).
And BBB, that's just your perception. SFA = Street Fighter Alpha, right? Well, if that's so, then SFA is just another good alternative to the regular series. Just because I personally prefer Super Street Fighter II Turbo doesn't mean that everyone else has to. For a good example of my first paragraph as to what you said, consider this: NBA Jam begat NBA Jam: Tournament Edition, which was evolution. That ended up becoming NBA Hangtime, which was notable for the ability to have a wolf for a head in create a player mode. That's throwing shit at the wall, and seeing what sticks.

SFA always means Star Fox Adventures for me. I dislike the way they've passed on a action-game after the greatest shooting-game I played.... And for NBA Jam I really like 2D versions like NBA Jam:TE or NBA Hangtime, but some games like NBA Jam 98 who are in 3D and with a non-full-arcade version is bad......

Don't worry...Starfox Adventures 2 is supposed to be a lot more like the N64 one. XD And I'm very optimistic. When has Intelligent Systems ever let us down with the quality of a game? Everyone's making a big deal about the cat-people.
