The official site says that the country of Galia has a race of beast/beastlike creatures.
And looking at the screens, it's obviously not limited to cats.

its really nothing major. The feel of FE seems to remain if u ask me. because if the classess and battle system remain.........then maybe things will peice around it. we know that FE is very story and character based. what if the beast things are good characters? what if the story is good? what about the gameplay? we havent experienced it yet.

Eh... This is gonna be completely off topic... >_> Oh well.
Wrong! Samurais were the fourth highest out of seven social classes! Samurais were technically not nobles. This the social ladder...
1. Emperor 2. Shogun 3. Daimyos 4. Samurai 5. Artisans 6. Peasants 7. Merchants
The emperor was a figurehead for the shogun. The daimyos were provincial nobles, who HIRED samurai to defend them and gave the samurai land in return. >_< Samurais... Noble... Pffff. During the warring period of Japan, the Daimyos fought while the samurais were mainly soldiers. >_<
Oh yea, the catgirl thing. If there's gonna be a whole race of them, then I guess they'll be like Mamkutes and I'll have to get used to them... >_>
Note: I'm getting my little brother a GCN for his birthday (which is tommorrow)... ^_^ YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! I get FE8!!!

That social ladder is different depending on date though...by the time those social ladders formed, the warring era was over. There was no supreme emperor of the land or else there wouldn't be a warring era.

I'm glad you feel that way. Just think people; if video games never changed, and things were always done according to tradition, we'd still be playing Atari 2600 games. That means Fire Emblem wouldn't exist. So it's a good thing game developers try new things.
I think the rest of you need to give the cat girl thing a chance. Like I said, it didn't ruin Breath of Fire 2.

You wouldn't get tired of it after nearly 3 decades? I help run a website dedicated to the NES and its games, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy other consoles.
Besides, like I said, we wouldn't have Fire Emblem if developers didn't take chances and progress.

There were loads of animal-men in BoF 1, and their presence became a trademark of the BoF series. I don't remember if there was a catgirl in BoF1, but hey! There was a wolfman and a moleman, at least. The merchants were fishmen. There was a ready place for feline folk. Such place can't be readily seem in the FE series.

I don't see the beast-people sticking around after this game and any sequel to it... It's an addition to this game. If it gets a negative reaction, it probably won't be continuing into different lands...
I don't like the cat-girl, but the main reason for that is that I don't like her design, from what I've seen... Birdy-boy and lion-man look alright. Just because another group similar to mamkutes has come along, doesn't mean the mamkutes won't be in FE8. If they aren't in FE8, they could be in 9 or 10...

Cheap? Not if you live in Brazil. It costs 900 Reais, which is, more or less, 300 dollars. I wouldn't call that "cheap".

GCz are getting cheap Cheap? Not if you live in Brazil. It costs 900 Reais, which is, more or less, 300 dollars. I wouldn't call that "cheap". Even because it costs three times what it was meant to. After all, our income didn't get any higher in the past eight years. But our currency has lost at least 70% of its strength... That's why I surrendered myself to emulation. </melodrama>
