So it's ok to have a human transform into a dragon, but it's the crime of crimes to have a human transform into a lion or Gryphon...
I've said it before and I'll say it again, some of you people could cry underwater.

Have you ever heard of tradition? Some kinds of changes may make a game to lose its identity with the rest of series. Dragons are traditional in FE. Beasts aren't.
If they go into a changing spree, there will be a day when we'll ask: "why is this still called Fire Emblem?"

I'm still going to get this game. I can't speak for the other critics, but I just think a different style would make the game better. On the flipside of what you said, I don't think we should just accept whatever they give us and accept it as the second coming. That's blatant, mindless, fanboyism. It's healthy to critique things and generate ideas. In any case, graphics aren't the main selling point for me. As long as the gameplay is intact, I can overlook a style I don't agree with. If the game has support conversations, plenty of characters to recruit, alternate storylines, etc., then I probably won't even care. I'm not advocating "fanboyisim". All I'm saying is that we have been fed very little concrete information about this game, and we're jumping all over it like ravenous wolves. All I'm doing is advocating patience until we even see so much as a moving sprite. It is healthy to critique things and ask for change, but I think we're jumping the gun a little. |

Maybe it's dark and gothic if you're only looking at Nergal and the Morphs... and listening to Karel and Jaffar. =P

Hah. FE7 is kinda like Eliwood's Adventure in Candyland, compared to all the bloodletting that went on in Jugdral. Child hunts.
(Of course, FE5 says the children are not killed. But I'm guessing FE5 wrote that to take some of the shock out)

I think it looks good. but whoever said that FE7 looked "dark and gothic" made me ROFL If I said FE7, I meant FF7. Sorry. I believe I also pointed out that FE7 has some lightheared, humorous points. And about "tradition," we wouldn't have Fire Emblem if we stuck to "tradition" and did things they way they have always been done. We wouldn't have the technology for video games if people didn't try and experiment with new things. Just some food for thought for those of you who seem a little conservative about all the changes. About jumping the gun. Like I said, graphics isn't the selling point. The graphics can be sub par, but I will still buy and enjoy the game as long as the game play, control, and replay are excellent. I will be too busy enjoying the game to even care about the graphics. |

I like some of the new things, I'm pretty undecided about the animals. I can't think of anything that Nintendo could do that would keep me from buying this game when it comes out. I'm a Nintendo whore. Hell they could make a game where Mario has a sex change operation and so does Peach and they go on sexy adventures, as long as the gameplay was still as good as any other Mario game I'd still play it.
I'm just trying to say the graphics are kind of choppy. There not as clear cut as I'd like. The view also bothers me. Theres nothing really wrong, but if it's exactly like that when it comes out this will be the first FE game that I play without those attack animations on. But whether or not capturing makes a comback can be the difference between this being good, and this being great.

Is it just me or does our main character also look like Roy and Eliwood, except he has blue hair instead of red? Actually, more like a cross between Roy and Marth...  It also occurs to me that the Axe guy "grail" has a Bratre-type nose... But the otehr two by the main character look cool. Evil lucius! And I really hope they don't decide to use cell shading. i hate that soo much! |
